  • £50,000 to £70,000 depending on experience, plus annual bonus, pension and 23 days holiday plus bank holidays (rising with service)
  • Small, experienced tech team where you own solutions end to end and have a real say in how things are built
  • Already developing with Claude Code, moving towards an agent led way of working where you design, specify and review
  • Broad role across a bespoke ecommerce platform and the systems behind it
  • Short process: a video call, then one face to face
  • Must have full right to work in the UK, no sponsorship available

ABOUT THE CLIENT

An established, independent online business supplies company that has grown year on year. They sell to small and medium sized businesses across the UK.

Technology is central to how they operate. Rather than buying off the shelf, they build and run their own ecommerce platform and internal business systems, which gives you real scope to shape them.

THE ROLE

You'll join a small team of three, working across the webstore, internal operations tools, CRM, merchandising systems and third party integrations. It covers new development, improving existing systems, integrations, support and data work.

The team is moving towards AI assisted, increasingly agent led development. Rather than writing every line by hand, you'll spend more time understanding requirements, designing solutions and writing clear specifications for tools such as Claude Code to implement, then guiding and reviewing that work. You keep ownership of architecture, code quality, testing and the final result.

Many of the systems have evolved over years, so you'll be comfortable understanding existing behaviour and business rules, and helping improve the platform so agents can safely test their own work. This suits someone who wants to settle into a business long term and understand why something is being built, not just how.

WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING

  • Working with colleagues to understand business problems and refine requirements
  • Designing practical, maintainable solutions and breaking them into clear specs and tasks for AI agents
  • Reviewing and testing agent output, and owning the quality of what ships
  • Building and improving features across the webstore, internal tools, CRM and merchandising systems
  • Building and maintaining third party API integrations
  • Discussing design decisions, reviewing code and tackling harder problems with the team
  • Supporting production systems and making pragmatic trade offs between quality, risk, time and business needs

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

  • Strong commercial experience with C#, .NET / .NET Framework and ASP.NET MVC
  • SQL Server, LINQ and an ORM such as Entity Framework
  • JavaScript, HTML and CSS
  • Unit and integration testing with MS Test, Selenium or similar
  • Developing and maintaining web applications end to end, plus API integrations
  • Git and GitHub workflows
  • Hands on use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor or Copilot, at work or on your own projects
  • Good engineering judgement, and able to turn business requirements into clear designs and specs
  • Commutable to Tunbridge Wells for three days a week
  • Full right to work in the UK

DESIRABLE, NOT ESSENTIAL

  • React, Angular or a similar front end framework
  • Ecommerce experience
  • IIS and Windows Server, CI/CD and PowerShell
  • Data analysis and reporting with tools such as Power BI
