Full Stack Engineer

Hands-on full-stack engineer at an NZ/AU secure-communications company, owning features end-to-end across web (React), Electron desktop and React Native mobile, backed by a Rust/AWS serverless stack (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Neptune, OpenSearch) with WebSockets, multi-tenancy and AWS Bedrock AI integrations.

The business has spent the past 18 months establishing its technical foundations and proving its product with the customers who need it most.
The company is now entering an important growth phase and is looking for an experienced Full Stack Engineer to help take the product forward.
The Opportunity This is a genuinely hands-on full-stack role where you will own features from initial design through to production, from the data model and backend services to the end-user interface.
You will work directly with the Head of Engineering, building secure, accessible and reliable communication experiences across web, desktop and mobile platforms.
Your work will include:
- Building complete features using React, Rust and AWS
- Developing interfaces across web, Electron desktop and React Native mobile
- Designing backend services using AWS Lambda and API Gateway
- Working with DynamoDB, Neptune and OpenSearch
- Building APIs and real-time functionality using WebSockets
- Contributing to multi-tenant architecture and tenant isolation
- Integrating managed AI and LLM services such as AWS Bedrock
- Implementing authentication, authorisation, monitoring and audit logging
- Taking responsibility for testing, deployment and production performance
- Strong commercial experience across both frontend and backend development
- Hands-on React experience across at least two of web, Electron or React Native
- Backend experience with Rust or a comparable systems-oriented language
- Experience working with AWS serverless architecture
- Strong NoSQL knowledge, ideally including DynamoDB data and index design
- Experience building or integrating real-time features using WebSockets
- Confidence owning features from initial concept through to production
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and production deployments
- A practical understanding of accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.2 AA
- A collaborative approach to peer review and working within a remote team
