Full Stack Java Developer

Our client is seeking a skilled Full-Stack Developer to join a technology team supporting a live, business-critical workflow platform. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to take ownership of features from requirements through to production while working across Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and MySQL.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong Java and Spring ecosystem experience, including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Security.
- Solid Angular experience, including component architecture, RxJS, and TypeScript.
- Strong MySQL and relational database skills, including schema design, query optimisation, and indexing.
- Experience developing and consuming REST APIs.
- Experience with GitLab or an equivalent platform for version control, code reviews, and CI/CD.
- Proven experience supporting live, business-critical production systems.
- Strong understanding of secure coding, authentication, authorisation, access control, and data protection.
- Awareness of POPIA/GDPR principles.
- Relevant Computer Science or Software Engineering qualification, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
Advantageous
- JPA/Hibernate and broader Spring technologies such as Spring Data, Spring Batch, or Spring Cloud.
- Linux administration and shell scripting.
- Docker and containerised deployments.
- Exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Microservices architecture and messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.
- Automated testing using JUnit, Mockito, Cypress, Karma, or similar.
- Experience within financial services, insurance, pensions, or a related industry.
