Full-Stack PHP Developer - SaaS & API Integrations

About the role

You'll work across the PHP backend, database, responsive web interface, third-party integrations, and supporting services. Rental AutoPilot is an established application with existing users, operational data, and business-critical workflows. You should be comfortable understanding an existing codebase, making practical improvements, and verifying that your changes work in the wider system.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain features across reservations, messaging, staff operations, automation, payments, and accounting.

• Translate operational requirements into clear workflows and maintainable code.

• Improve responsive interfaces for desktop and mobile, working with UI/UX designs.

• Handle loading, empty, error, and permission states so features work well beyond the ideal scenario.

• Develop and maintain integrations with property-management systems, booking platforms, WhatsApp providers, Xero, payment gateways, and smart-lock services.

• Work with REST APIs, OAuth, webhooks, scheduled jobs, and background workers.

• Handle rate limits, authentication failures, delayed events, retries, and partial failures.

• Trace problems across application code, database records, logs, background processes, and external providers.

• Reproduce reported issues and identify their underlying causes.

• Improve database queries, application performance, and data consistency.

About you

• Strong professional experience developing and maintaining PHP applications.

• Strong SQL skills, including relational database design, joins, indexing, transactions, and query troubleshooting.

• Solid JavaScript, HTML, and CSS skills, with experience building responsive web interfaces.

• Experience maintaining a live SaaS platform or another application with business-critical workflows.

• Practical experience integrating third-party APIs and troubleshooting webhook or synchronization problems.

• Understanding of concurrency, duplicate prevention, safe retries, and transaction integrity.

• Working knowledge of authentication, authorization, multi-tenant access controls, and common web security risks.

• Confidence using Git, reviewing changes, and managing branches.

• Ability to work independently, clarify requirements, and explain technical decisions.

• Practical experience using AI coding agents to complete development work in an existing codebase.
