About this Role:
You’ll contribute to the architecture and technical vision for a line of companion apps and backend services for the new generation of vehicles for the Honda and Acura brands. Target end-user platforms include Android and iOS.
We’re looking for someone who has a strong sense of ownership of product features and quality, is enthusiastic about trying new technologies, and does not hesitate to do whatever it takes to get things done, even if outside your usual responsibility area.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a multiplatform vehicle companion app for iOS and Android using Kotlin Multiplatform, Jetpack Compose, and SwiftUI
- Partner with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and peers across Honda
- Engage in discussions and contribute ideas to product definitions and designs
- Lead technical discussions, feature development, and architecture reviews
- Pair with managers to define a technical vision and roadmap for the app
- Drive system design and architecture
- Own the breakdown of complex problems into simple development tasks
- Build prototypes to validate the feasibility of requirements and to test new ideas
- Advocate for unit and integration testing best practices
- Design APIs and SDKs together with external teams
- Lead observability of non-functional requirements to ensure a delightful experience for Honda and Acura drivers around the world
- Support engineering development lifecycle processes in a highly regulated and safety-oriented industry
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience with the development of customer-facing apps at scale, involving prototyping, creating, and maintaining features from concept to production
- Team player with a positive attitude and who is committed to continuously improving the team, the product, and the company
- Experience creating readable, thoughtful, and maintainable code
- Experience utilizing asynchronous programming, multi-threading, dependency injection, and reflection
- Mentor other engineers through code reviews, as well as providing guidance and feedback

To support collaboration with our Japan-based teams, core hours are 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM PT from Monday through Thursday. The team works in-office on Mondays and Tuesdays. Thursdays and Fridays offer more flexibility, particularly in the evenings, while remaining full working days
