About Allume
We're empowering millions of people to access clean, affordable energy.
We're a Melbourne-based technology company, and our world-first technology, SolShare, unlocks rooftop solar for apartment residents. This smart hardware connects a single rooftop solar system to multiple units and common areas, fairly distributing solar energy so everyone gets their fair share. SolShare helps reduce both energy bills and carbon emissions.
SolShare removes the technical and ownership barriers that have long prevented apartment households from accessing rooftop solar. We built it here in Melbourne, and it's now connected over 13,000 apartments across Australia, the UK and the US. We're doubling our installation base each year, and we're aiming to connect over 100,000 apartments by 2029. SolShare now also brings shared battery optimisation to apartment buildings.
We're growing quickly, and our technology is becoming more capable as we scale. That means we need great people to help us build what comes next.

About the role
Our SolShare technology brings together mechanical, electrical, electronics, firmware, cloud and web software engineering. We’re looking for a hands-on Full Stack Team Lead to lead our small cloud and web team and own the platform behind SolShare – the customer-facing dashboard, APIs and cloud infrastructure that manage more than 1,000 connected devices in the field, and growing.
Our cloud platform has grown with the business, and it now needs to scale with us as we enter new markets. You’ll own its architecture, implementation and maintenance – setting the direction, making the trade-offs and building it with your team.
You’ll manage the team day to day, turn product goals into a clear, sequenced plan and stay on the tools yourself, balancing new features with reliability, security and performance. You’ve already led engineers, either as a team lead or as a senior engineer who has guided others through planning and delivery and is ready to take on formal people management.
What you’ll do
Lead and develop the cloud and web team – day-to-day management, one-on-ones, mentoring, design reviews and removing roadblocks. Your success is measured by the team’s output, not just your own.
Turn product goals into a prioritised delivery plan, working with stakeholders and technical partners to clarify requirements and dependencies, and making clear calls when priorities compete.
Own our AWS cloud architecture, implementation and maintenance, and set the roadmap to evolve it as our connected fleet grows, partnering with our Cyber Security Lead and Principal Data Engineer to keep it secure, scalable and reliable.
Stay hands-on designing, building and testing back-end services, APIs and Vue.js front-end applications.
Manage and take part in the team’s on-call rotation, develop and maintain clear runbooks, monitoring and backup support.
Set how the team uses AI tooling across the development lifecycle, with sensible quality and security guardrails.
Champion and model Allume’s values across the team and the wider business.
What we’re looking for
You’re a technically strong engineer with a track record of leading through planning and delivery, skilled at communicating the 'why' behind decisions and aligning stakeholders at every stage. You are enthusiastic about building software, developing people, and comfortable managing competing priorities.
You’ll have:
Solid experience in full stack software engineering, including experience leading engineers as a team lead or tech lead.
Deep AWS experience designing, building and running secure, scalable production systems, including infrastructure as code and CI/CD.
Strong, hands-on experience with Node.js, NestJS and Vue.js.
A track record of scoping, estimating and planning delivery across multiple priorities.
Experience working across teams, including non-technical stakeholders, to shape and inform implementation and delivery.
Nice to have
It’d be great if you also have experience with:
Experience architecting cloud platforms for connected device fleets (e.g. AWS IoT Core, MQTT, over-the-air updates, device telemetry).
Formal people management experience, such as one-on-ones, performance conversations and hiring.
Experience evolving a production platform as it scales – knowing when to improve what’s there and when to replace it.
Hands-on experience rolling out AI developer tooling (coding assistants or agents) for a team.
Right to work
You’ll need valid, unrestricted work rights in Australia. We can’t offer visa sponsorship.
Interview process
We aim to respond within two weeks, and the full process usually takes four to six weeks.
There are three stages:
Round 1: Online interview (15 minutes) – a short conversation about your experience, what you’re looking for and why Allume interests you.
Round 2: Technical deep dive (1 hour) – an in-person discussion with the hiring manager to explore your technical expertise and how you tackle role-specific challenges.
Round 3: Values and team alignment (1.5 hours) – a final conversation with the hiring manager and the wider team, so both sides can work out whether Allume is the right fit.
