Full Stack Web Developer -Electric Eye
Summary
The Full Stack Web Developer will design, develop, and maintain web applications for processing and visualizing remote sensing data using JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, and AWS. This role involves working in an Agile team to build cloud-native software and requires participation in an on-call rotation.
GHGSatoffers greenhouse gas detection, measurement, and monitoring services to industrial and government customers around the world. We use our own satellites andaircraftsensors, combined with third-party data, to help industrial emitters better understand, control, and reduce their emissions.
Ourcapability is unique: we provide high-resolution, local measurements of atmospheric methane and carbon dioxide concentration fromremote sensors, enablingprecise detection, visualization, and quantification of greenhouse gas emissions.
We arelooking for an innovativeFull Stack Web Developer for our Electric-Eyeteam workingaweb applicationenabling the processing and visualization of remote sensing data.As part of a cross-functional Agile Scrum team, you will design, develop, test, deploy,and support our post-processing software. You should be comfortable around both frontend and backend coding languages, developmentframeworksand third-party libraries. Overall, you have an excellent knowledgeof webtechnologies, securitystandardsand best practices,along with astrong motivation in tacklingthe important environmental issues that our planet faces today.
Responsibilities:
- Develop tools and applicationfeaturesto improve the workflow ofprocessing emission-related data
- Evaluate,integrateandsupportfrontend and backendservices,databases, data transformation frameworks,and APIs
- Take ownership of the implementationofnew featuresthroughout their lifecyclefrom wireframes and system requirementsthrough testing,implementationand support
- Optimizedata structures, schemas andqueries forperformance and scalability
- Collaborate regularly with the team to design and evolve system architecture
- Maintain and ensurehighavailability ofthedataprocessingplatform
- Liaise with developers, designers,QAandproduct stakeholderstoidentifynew features
- NOTE:This role requires participation in ashared oncall rotation with other members of the team.
Required skills
- Strong computational science or software development skills
- Proven capability withJavaScript, Typescript, and Python
- Experience with modern web technologies (React.js,Node.js,TailwindCSS, HTML5)
- Experience with building and consuming REST APIs’
- Experience with AWS services (EKS, ECR, S3, DynamoDB)
- Competence with databases (PostgreSQL, NoSQL)
- Experience using software development tools such as Git version control and Docker
- Experience designing and implementing services ina cloud-native environment(AWS)
- Ability to independently deliver well-defined features with minimal supervision
- Availability toparticipatein a scheduled on-call rotation and provide occasional support outside regular business hours, including weekends, to ensure operational continuity.
Assets
- Experiencewithweb-based geospatial visualization tools (OpenLayers,WebGL)
- Experience working with geospatial and remote sensing data formats (e.g.,GeoTIFF,GeoJSON, raster/vector data)
- Interest in scientific analysis, atmospheric sciences, remotesensingand space technology
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
- 2+yearsofexperience in relevant roles
