About Matter
Matter is a B2B, factory-direct architectural materials platform. We supply stone, tile, timber, metal panel and glass to architects, designers, property developers and gallery partners across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Japan, the USA and Asia.
https://matter-materials.com/ is at the centre of how we work. Clients use it to browse our catalogue, build moodboards and manage their accounts. We're looking for a developer to own it.
The role
You'll maintain, fix and develop matter-materials.com, working on-site with our team in Bali. You'll keep the site fast, stable and secure, and turn feedback from the sales team into shipped improvements.
What you'll do
- Keep the site up, fast and secure: hosting, deployments, SSL, backups and monitoring.
- Find and fix bugs across the frontend, backend and database.
- Build new features, such as catalogue filters, moodboard tools and trade account flows.
- Manage the product catalogue: SKUs, variants, bulk uploads and image optimisation.
- Improve SEO and performance.
- Test on real devices in the office, including the iPads used with our sample display.
- Build clean, minimal UI to the Matter design system.
What we're looking for
Required
- Based in Bali, or willing to relocate, and available full-time on-site.
- 3+ years of full-stack web development.
- Strong Next.js, React and TypeScript.
- Node.js backend and APIs, with PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Deployment experience (Vercel, AWS or similar), CI/CD and Git.
- Experience with user authentication and handling large image libraries.
- Comfortable taking over and documenting an existing codebase.
- Good spoken and written English.
Nice to have
- E-commerce or B2B catalogue experience.
- Headless CMS experience (Sanity, Strapi, Payload).
- An eye for design; can work from Figma.
