Position Summary

Fairfield Senior Living & Rehabilitation is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and compassionate Full-Time Dietary Cook to join our team. The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, appealing, and well-balanced meals to residents while following established menus, dietary restrictions, food safety guidelines, and facility policies.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to providing quality meals that enhance the health, comfort, and overall dining experience of our residents.

Job Description & Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook nutritious, high-quality meals according to established menus, recipes, and resident dietary needs.

• Follow physician-ordered diets, therapeutic diets, modified textures, and special dietary requirements as directed by the Dietary Manager.

• Ensure meals are prepared and served on time and at appropriate temperatures.

• Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and infection control procedures.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, including cooking equipment, food preparation areas, and storage spaces.

• Assist with meal preparation, portion control, food presentation, and meal service.

• Monitor food temperatures and maintain required documentation according to facility policies.

• Properly label, date, rotate, and store food products according to food safety guidelines.

• Assist with inventory management, food deliveries, and proper storage of supplies.

• Minimize food waste while maintaining appropriate portion sizes and nutritional standards.

• Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any equipment concerns or maintenance needs.

• Follow all applicable federal, state, and local food safety regulations and nursing facility requirements.

• Communicate effectively with the Dietary Manager, nursing staff, and other team members regarding resident dietary needs and preferences.

• Maintain a respectful, professional, and positive attitude toward residents, families, and coworkers.

• Perform additional dietary duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager or facility administration.
