Full-time Lecturer (Business) - Teaching Certificate, Diploma & Degree

This is a 1-year contract role, with potential renewal or conversion based on performance and organisational headcount.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Teach Business, Marketing, Statistics, and related business modules across Certificate, Diploma, Undergraduate, and short-course programmes, and contribute to at least one other business discipline such as Management or Human Resource Management.

  • Undertake the roles of Programme Leader and Module Leader across various programmes, as assigned.

  • Ensure teaching, assessment and academic delivery are aligned with institutional quality assurance frameworks and university partner requirements.

1. Teaching, Learning and Assessment

  • Plan, prepare and deliver lessons and set assessment and learning activities to a range of classes (lecturers/tutorials/asynchronous) and age groups of students (including overseas colleges, if required).

  • Design, develop, review, and update curriculum, learning resources, teaching materials, and learning activities within the approved academic framework.

  • Set, administer, mark and review coursework and examinations in accordance with approved module specifications and assessment requirements.

  • Ensure assessments measure intended learning outcomes and support appropriate formative and summative feedback.

  • Conduct and facilitate internal moderation of coursework, examination papers, marking guides, QPMS examinations, and assessment results.

  • Review examination papers within relevant areas of specialisation and conduct objective assessments on coursework and examination appeal cases.

  • Support school-wide academic assessment initiatives, including Question Bank-related projects where required.

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of e-learning platforms such as Moodle, Blackboard, and other relevant digital learning technologies

2. Programme Management & Curriculum/Partnership Development

  • Undertake Programme Leader and/or Module Leader responsibilities and coordinate academic activities to support the effective delivery of programmes and modules.

  • Ensure programme design, delivery, assessment, and documentation are aligned with PSB Academy's academic framework, quality standards, and institutional requirements.

  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate teaching and learning resources to support programme objectives and intended learning outcomes.

  • Develop and implement effective online and blended learning strategies to enhance student engagement and learning experiences.

  • Support the Assistant Head of School (Academic) in the exploration and development of new programmes and growth opportunities for the School.

  • Coordinate and prepare documentation and information required for quality assurance reviews, audits, inspections, and other academic assessment exercises.

  • Undertake programme-related administrative responsibilities and contribute to the smooth operation of academic programmes.

  • Provide academic advice and guidance to students on academic performance, career development, and progression to further studies.

  • Engage in scholarly, professional, and knowledge-exchange activities that contribute to curriculum innovation and the advancement of the relevant discipline.

3. Student Success and Academic Advising

  • Monitor student engagement, academic progression, attendance, performance, and success rates across assigned programmes and modules.

  • Implement early intervention strategies for students at risk and work with relevant teams to improve retention and achievement.

  • Provide academic advising and learning support on academic performance, career pathways, and further studies.

4. Academic Staff Management and Development

  • Manage, guide and support Associate Lecturers to ensure consistency and quality in teaching and academic delivery.

  • Conduct lecturer induction, mentoring, class observations, feedback discussions, and staff development seminars.

  • Monitor Associate Lecturer performance in relation to teaching quality, assessment standards, and student learning experience.

5. Research and Professional Development

  • Maintain an active interest in emerging technologies, developments in education, and continuing professional development.

  • Engage in research activities and contribute to academic publications, seminars and conferences.

  • Represent the School on relevant academic committees, where required.

6. Miscellaneous duties

• Other administrative duties/projects as assigned by Reporting Officer.

• Participate in the school’s events, marketing campaigns and projects.

Job Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in a Business-related discipline (At least a pass at GCE ‘O’ level or its equivalent in the language medium of the programme/module).

  • 5 to 7 years of experience (Teaching experience preferred).

  • Experience or knowledge of module and/or programme leadership, development and administration within a higher education environment.

  • Evidence of engagement in professional practice and the ability to design, deliver and assess a range of modules in and related to specialist areas of professional practice.

  • Enthusiasm in working in an interdisciplinary context.

  • Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development.

  • Experience in working with digital technology including an interest in emerging technology and techniques and maintaining an active interest in related developments within the sector.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Good people skills and ability to handle difficult situations, lead and motivate people.

  • Ability to work as part of a wider team involving senior managers.

  • Forward and outlooking approach to the profession.

  • An understanding of the changing landscape within the education sector nationally and internationally.

  • Willing to work shift hours i.e. weekday evenings and/or weekends.
