Full-Time Security Officer
Concordia University, Nebraska Full-Time Security Officer
- Tours buildings and property of the university, examining doors, windows and gates to assure they are secure.
- Inspects premises for such irregularities as signs of intrusion, interruption of utility services, suspicious acts or persons and fire or safety hazards.
- Inspects fire alarms, fire extinguishers, closed circuit television and access control systems for signs of tampering.
- Answers alarms, investigates disturbances and calls appropriate authorities as required by situation.
- Answers lock out calls from students or faculty/staff.
- Locks and unlocks doors according to schedule.
- Assists visitors or the general public in problems that may arise on the university campus.
- Writes reports of irregularities and keeps a daily log.
- Maintains confidentiality of security information.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Previous experience as a security officer preferred.
- Certified in CPR and First Aid.
- Must have valid driver's license.
- Ability to walk for 30-40 minutes per hour during an eight hour shift.
- Ability to climb up to three flights of stairs at a time.
- Ability to withstand outdoor weather conditions throughout the year.
- Vision correctable to 20/20 required.
- Hearing correctable within a normal range required.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Must possess a good moral character.
- Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.
- Considerable physical activity, requires heavy physical work, heavy lifting, pushing, pulling required up to 25 pounds. Physical work is part of this job.
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions.
