Full-Time Third Shift CNA 10P-6A
Join a dedicated overnight care team where your compassion makes a real difference during the quietest and most important hours of the day. As a 3rd Shift CNA at St. Luke's Hospital Transitional Care Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, you will provide attentive, hands-on care to residents recovering from illness, surgery, or hospitalization. Working from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., you become a trusted presence for residents and their families, delivering the kind of steady, patient-centered support that helps people heal and regain their independence.
What You'll Do
The overnight hours call for a calm, observant caregiver who can anticipate needs and respond with warmth. In this role, you will carry out essential daily care while keeping comfort and dignity at the center of everything you do.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
- Monitor residents throughout the night, performing routine checks and responding promptly to call lights and requests for help.
- Measure and record vital signs, intake and output, and other observations, reporting any changes to the nursing staff.
- Support safe repositioning, transfers, and ambulation to prevent falls and promote comfort during rest.
- Help keep resident rooms and common areas clean, orderly, and welcoming for the morning that follows.
- Offer reassurance and companionship, recognizing that overnight hours can feel long for those in your care.
As a reliable 3rd Shift CNA, you will collaborate closely with nurses and fellow aides, communicating clearly at shift change so that daytime teams begin with a complete picture of each resident's night.
What We're Looking For
We welcome applicants who find real purpose in overnight caregiving and who thrive in a quieter, focused environment. The ideal 3rd Shift CNA brings both skill and heart to each shift.
- Active Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Iowa, or eligibility to obtain it.
- Current CPR certification, or willingness to complete it.
- Ability to work the full third-shift schedule, 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., on a consistent basis.
- Physical stamina to assist with lifting, transfers, and extended time on your feet.
- Strong attention to detail, especially when documenting observations and recognizing subtle changes overnight.
- Clear, kind communication and a genuine commitment to resident dignity.
Prior experience in skilled nursing, transitional care, or long-term care is a plus, though a positive, teachable attitude matters just as much. If you are a 3rd Shift CNA who takes pride in quiet dependability, you will fit right in. We value team members who show up ready to care, support one another, and treat every resident like family. This is a meaningful opportunity for a 3rd Shift CNA to grow within a respected care setting.
