Contract full-stack engineer (via Adecco) for a financial services client in Dublin, leading the design and delivery of investment and trading applications. Day to day: architecture, mentoring, and hands-on development with Java, Spring Boot, Oracle, Kafka, Kubernetes and AWS in a hybrid model (one week per month in office).

Location: Dublin 24

Work model: Hybrid (1 full week per MONTH in the office)

Client: Financial services: asset management, fund services, and financial technology

Daily rate: 400-420 EUR

Work model: Limited company contracting

ROLE OVERVIEW

  • We are seeking an experience Full Stack Engineer to work within a squad of engineers to develop high-quality applications servicing the financial industry.
  • You will have the opportunity to lead the delivery and design of high value investment products that support our customers in providing excellent financial solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the design and delivery of strategic investment and trading applications.
  • Drive architecture discussions and technical decision-making across distributed systems.
  • Partner with product owners, architects, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
  • Break down complex initiatives into deliverable work streams and guide the team through execution.
  • Develop high-quality, secure, and maintainable software with a strong focus on automated testing and engineering best practices.
  • Mentor and coach engineers, helping to elevate technical capability across the team.
  • Champion Agile delivery practices and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure applications are robust, resilient, secure, and operationally sound.
  • Influence technology direction and innovation within the Capital Markets engineering organisation.
  • Leverage modern AI tools and engineering productivity solutions to improve development efficiency and software quality.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Technical Expertise

  • Software engineering experience delivering enterprise-scale applications.
  • Expert-level Java development experience.
  • Strong experience with: Spring Boot, Oracle Database, Kafka, Kubernetes, AWS (particularly EKS).
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience designing and developing REST APIs and microservices.
  • Strong knowledge of software architecture and system design principles.
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices using tools such as Git, Jenkins, and related technologies.
  • Proficiency in modern AI engineering tools and AI-assisted software development practices.

Quality Engineering

  • Test automation frameworks including Cucumber and Selenium.
  • Test-driven and behaviour-driven development approaches.
  • Automated testing across Java, Spring Boot, Angular, TypeScript, Oracle, SOAP and REST services.
  • Building highly testable, maintainable software solutions.

Nice to Have

  • Experience developing front-end applications using Angular, JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar frameworks.
  • AWS cloud-native development experience.
  • Financial services, trading, brokerage, or capital markets domain knowledge.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Leads through influence, collaboration, and technical excellence.
  • Has experience mentoring engineers and helping teams grow.
  • Communicates effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Builds strong relationships with business and technology partners.
  • Thrives in fast-paced Agile environments.
