As our operations and digital ambitions grow, we are looking for a motivated and adaptable Fullstack Software Engineer (Junior to Mid Level) to join our team in Highett.
About the Role
This is an opportunity to use your software engineering skills to make a tangible difference in healthcare and aged care.
Our core digital foundation currently centers around modern web tech, but we choose tools based on the problem we are solving, not framework loyalty. As care delivery evolves, so will our technology. For example, alongside web platforms, we are actively exploring wearable health integrations and managed solutions on WearOS devices to monitor and assist patients in real time.
You will have end-to-end ownership: building user interfaces, designing database schemas, integrating hardware or APIs, and constantly expanding your technical toolkit.
Who You Are
Whether you are a mid level engineer or an ambitious junior, this role requires a specific mindset:
Strong Computer Science Foundations: You understand the core principles of software engineering. You know how to select the right data structures for the problem at hand, reason about efficiency, and write clean, modular, and maintainable code.
Adaptable and Tech Agnostic: You care about solving real healthcare problems rather than sticking to one specific framework. We are not looking for someone who says, "I only write React and Node." If a clinical need requires diving into Android, WearOS, exploring wearable SDKs, or integrating a new enterprise platform, you are excited to roll up your sleeves and learn it.
Rapid and Independent Learner: You have high curiosity and can ramp up on new tools, APIs, and business domains quickly.
Resourceful Problem Solver: When you hit a roadblock, your instinct is to read the documentation, run experiments, debug methodically, and propose solutions independently before asking for help.
High Ownership: You take initiative, manage your time well, and care about shipping reliable, secure software.
Key Responsibilities
Fullstack Web Development: Build, maintain, and extend our core applications using React, Node.js, Express, Prisma, and PostgreSQL.
Modern UI: Craft clean, responsive, and mobile friendly interfaces with Tailwind CSS.
Emerging Tech and Integrations: Research, prototype, and implement new technologies as business needs dictate, including wearable integrations (such as Samsung Galaxy Watch and WearOS devices), mobile solutions, and third party healthcare APIs.
Database and Cloud: Manage schemas and migrations with Prisma and PostgreSQL, and deploy services on AWS.
Security and Healthcare Compliance: Write clean, secure code that strictly protects sensitive patient data and adheres to healthcare privacy principles.
Collaborative Problem Solving: Work directly with clinicians, carers, and business leadership to turn everyday operational needs into functional digital products.
What We Are Looking For
Foundational Computer Science Knowledge: A strong understanding of core computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithmic thinking, and system architecture principles.
Core Technical Stack: Practical working knowledge of modern JavaScript or TypeScript, React, Node.js, Express, PostgreSQL, Prisma, and Tailwind CSS.
Cloud and DevOps Basics: Familiarity or practical experience deploying and managing apps on AWS.
Willingness to Learn: A demonstrable openness to step outside your comfort zone to pick up new languages, SDKs, mobile ecosystems, or wearable tech as needed.
Engineering Rigour: Solid understanding of Git version control, RESTful API design, and strong independent debugging skills.
Eligibility and Location: Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical portfolio demonstrating strong fundamentals. Must be willing to work onsite at our Highett Head Office.
What We Offer
Varied and Exciting Tech Challenges: You will not be stuck in a repetitive maintenance loop and you will explore web, cloud, and emerging wearable health tech.
Real Ownership: Direct input on technical decisions and product architecture.
Meaningful Impact: Build tools that directly improve clinical outcomes, aged care support, and patient independence.
A Culture of Kindness and Innovation: Work within an award winning organisation that genuinely values initiative, creativity, and personal growth.
