FullStack Team Lead, HO and AI focused

Jones is an AI-powered insurance compliance platform that helps real estate managers, general contractors, and commercial tenants manage vendor compliance efficiently. Through intelligent automation, AI-powered auditing, and seamless integrations, Jones simplifies complex insurance workflows and helps customers reduce manual work. We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Full Stack Team Lead to join our growing R&D team. This is an opportunity for a strong engineer who enjoys leading people but wants to remain deeply involved in development. You'll take ownership of a full stack team, contribute significantly to the codebase, and help shape the architecture and development of our AI-powered products.
What will you be doing?
Lead a full stack development team while remaining actively involved in hands-on coding and feature development.
Take end-to-end ownership of technical solutions, from design and architecture through implementation and production.
Build and improve AI-powered features, integrating LLMs and AI services into our products and workflows.
Translate product requirements into scalable, reliable, and maintainable solutions.
Make technical decisions, conduct code reviews, and maintain high engineering standards.
Manage the team's day-to-day development activities, priorities, and delivery.
Mentor engineers, encourage knowledge sharing, and foster a collaborative engineering culture.
Work closely with Product, Design, and other R&D teams to deliver impactful features.
Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and the professional development of team members.

What skills and experience do you need?
5+ years of professional experience in full stack software development, with strong hands-on coding skills.
Previous experience as a Team Lead or Tech Lead, including mentoring engineers and leading technical delivery.
Strong experience with at least one of our backend stacks: Node.js + MongoDB or Java + MySQL.
Experience with React and modern frontend development.
Proven experience building and maintaining production-grade web applications, including frontend, backend, APIs, and databases.
Practical experience developing AI-powered features, working with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, or AI-driven workflows.
Strong software architecture and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance speed, quality, and scalability.
A hands-on mindset and genuine enthusiasm for writing code, not just managing development.
Experience working in agile, fast-paced product environments.
Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken, are required.
Strong ownership, communication, and collaboration skills.
Product-oriented thinking, with a focus on delivering real value to customers.
Ability to learn quickly, adapt to new technologies, and lead by example.

Work Environment & Schedule
Fully remote position, working with an international team across multiple countries.
Working hours start at 8:00 AM Brasília time (BRT, UTC−3) to ensure alignment and collaboration with the team.
Own equipment required: You'll work using your own computer and home office setup, with a reliable internet connection.
Comfortable working independently in a remote environment while maintaining strong communication and collaboration with the team.

Nice to have
Experience with AI agents, RAG, structured extraction, or document-processing pipelines.
Experience evaluating and optimizing AI systems for accuracy, latency, and cost.
Experience with cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS.
Experience building B2B SaaS products.
