Functional QA engineer designs and runs manual test cases for web apps, logs bugs, and collaborates with devs to ensure software quality.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Functional Quality Assurance Engineer with 4-6 years of experience in manual/functional testing and basic exposure to test automation. The candidate will be responsible for understanding business requirements, designing and executing test scenarios, validating application functionality, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Requirement Analysis & Test Design
- Understand and analyze functional and business requirements.
- Prepare detailed test scenarios, test cases, and test data.
- Participate in requirement walkthroughs and clarification sessions with BA/PO/development teams.

Functional & Regression Testing
- Perform end-to-end functional, integration, system, and regression testing.
- Validate UI, workflow, business rules, and data integrity across modules.
- Execute test cases, log defects, and track them to closure.

Defect Management & Reporting
- Raise defects with clear steps to reproduce, impact analysis, and supporting evidence.
- Work closely with developers to reproduce and troubleshoot issues.
- Provide daily/weekly test execution reports, defect status reports, and test summary reports.

Basic Test Automation
- Collaborate with automation QA to identify test cases suitable for automation.
- Use basic automation tools/Frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, or similar) to:
- Execute existing automated test scripts.
- Update or maintain simple scripts under guidance.
- Execute existing automated test scripts.
- Support smoke/regression suites execution using automation.
- Collaborate with automation QA to identify test cases suitable for automation.
Collaboration & Process Adherence
- Work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Developers, and DevOps teams.
- Adhere to QA processes, standards, and best practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of QA methodologies and documentation.

- Maintain test case repositories and test evidence.
- Prepare test plans, test closure reports, and release readiness QA sign-offs.

Required Skills & Experience
Experience:
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in functional/manual testing of web or enterprise applications.

Functional QA Skills:
- Strong understanding of SDLC and STLC.
- Experience in preparing and executing detailed test cases and scenarios.
- Good knowledge of different testing types: functional, integration, system, regression, smoke, sanity.
- Experience in defect lifecycle management using tools like JIRA, Azure DevOps, or similar.
- Strong understanding of SDLC and STLC.
Basic Automation Skills:
- Exposure to test automation tools (e.g., Selenium WebDriver, Cypress, Playwright, or similar).
- Ability to execute existing automation scripts and understand basic scripting concepts.
- Familiarity with at least one programming/scripting language (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Python) is an added advantage.

Technical Skills (Nice to Have / As per project):
- Knowledge of API testing using Postman/REST client tools.
- Basic understanding of SQL for data validation.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines for test execution is a plus.

- Prior experience in domain areas such as Banking/Financial Services, Insurance, Healthcare, or Retail (customize as per your project).
