Job Title: Furniture Designer (with production experiences)

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Furniture Designer with significant hands-on production experience to lead the development of innovative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing furniture from initial concept through to mass production, including overseas travel for quality control and prototype validation at manufacturing partners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design & Development: Develop original furniture concepts, creating detailed sketches, 2D/3D CAD models (AutoCAD, Rhino, Keyshot, etc.), and technical drawings.
• Material & Trend Research: Source, test, and select appropriate materials (wood, metal, textiles) and stay ahead of market trends, sustainability, and new manufacturing techniques.
• Production Liaison: Work closely with engineering and production to ensure design feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and brand alignment.
• Prototype Management: Oversee prototype creation, refine designs based on feedback, and conduct rigorous testing for comfort, ergonomics, and durability.
• International Travel: Travel to global manufacturing partners for factory visits, design reviews, mock-up inspections, and final sample approvals, ensuring production quality meets specifications.
• Documentation: Prepare comprehensive specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and manufacturing documentation.
• Project Management: Manage project timelines, deliverables, and communication with global stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in furniture design with a strong portfolio.
• Deep understanding of furniture manufacturing processes, materials, and construction.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, Keyshot, etc.).
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to adapt designs for mass production while maintaining creative vision.
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally frequently.

Experience Focus

• Proven ability to transition designs from concept through prototyping to full-scale production.
• Hands-on knowledge of manufacturing processes (woodworking, metal fabrication, upholstery).
• Experience working directly with workshops/factories.
