Gaming Architect
- Definition and evolution of target architecture for gaming backend services
- Translation of functional and non-functional requirements into solution designs and technical roadmaps
- Promotion of modular, loosely coupled, and reusable services
- Design of solutions across game management, gameplay, player and wallet interactions, provider integration, promotions, responsible gaming, regulatory functions, and operational tooling
- Modeling of domain capabilities, service boundaries, ownership, and event flows using domain-driven design and product-oriented architecture principles
- Ensuring backend designs support session handling, game launch and lifecycle flows, transactional integrity, reconciliation, and auditable gaming outcomes
- Architecture of APIs, asynchronous events, and real-time messaging flows between gaming services and external providers
- Definition of reliable integration patterns for REST, event streaming, queues, webhooks, and provider-specific protocols
- Driving standardisation of contracts and integration frameworks
- Design for high availability, low latency, horizontal scalability, fault isolation, graceful degradation, disaster recovery, and predictable performance
- Definition of service-level objectives and guidance on capacity planning, caching, data-store selection, resilience testing, and performance optimisation
- Ensuring solutions include effective observability through metrics, logs, distributed tracing, alerting, and operational dashboards
- Embedding security by design including authentication, authorisation, encryption, secrets management, network segmentation, and secure software supply-chain practices
- Collaboration with security, legal, and compliance stakeholders to ensure architecture supports gaming controls, responsible gaming measures, auditability, data protection, and regulatory reporting
- Maintaining clear separation of regulated components and data
- Leading architecture reviews, documenting decisions and trade-offs, and maintaining reference patterns and standards
- Partnering with technical leads and developers throughout delivery
- Identifying and prioritising technical debt, modernisation opportunities, and platform simplification initiatives
- Collaboration with product managers, engineering teams, architects, operations, data, infrastructure, security, compliance, and external suppliers
- Explaining complex technical concepts, risks, options, and trade-offs to stakeholders
- Mentoring technical leads and engineers and fostering continuous improvement
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience
- Several years of senior software engineering experience including designing complex backend or distributed systems
- Strong knowledge of microservices, domain-driven design, event-driven architecture, API design, and integration patterns
- Hands-on experience with backend technologies such as .NET, Java, or equivalent modern stack
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL data stores
- Experience with messaging and event-streaming technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
- Experience with container platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience designing cloud-based architectures with practical knowledge of AWS or equivalent cloud platform
- Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure automation, production operations, incident analysis, and modern DevSecOps practices
- Relevant experience in online gaming or another high-volume, transactional, regulated digital industry
