Gas Quant Analyst
NewBe an early applicantEnergy Aspects is seeking a Gas Quant Analyst to join our growing research team, based in either London or Singapore. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented analyst to develop expertise in LNG and/or EUI gas markets whilst working with a world-class team of energy market specialists.
The gas analyst will support the development of our LNG and/or EU gas market views, working closely with the rest of the team to produce timely, high-quality analysis. You will work in an environment that mirrors the responsiveness and commercial sharpness of a trading desk: staying close to the market, responding quickly to new information, and in constant dialogue with industry and trading contacts. The role requires intellectual rigour, commercially awareness, and the ability to translate fast-moving developments into clear, actionable insights for clients.
· Support the development of robust and defensible LNG import and export forecasts, EU gas balances, and market views.
· Gather market intelligence through dialogue with traders, industry participants, and market contacts to support team analysis.
· Translate fundamental analysis, market intelligence, and proprietary data into clear, actionable views for clients.
· Conduct timely analysis of market-moving events, producing short, high-conviction views for clients at speed.
· Write both scheduled and ad hoc reports on the LNG and EU gas market, with a focus on supply-demand fundamentals, policy developments, pricing dynamics, and other key market drivers.
· Present Energy Aspects’ LNG and EU gas views to clients through presentations, conferences, webinars, and direct written responses.
· Prior experience analysing gas markets, with a strong ability to translate fundamental analysis into clear and defensible market and price views.
· Proven ability to operate effectively in fast-moving markets and respond quickly to market-moving developments.
· Strong technical skills (Excel, Python) and experience developing, running, and refining supply-demand balances, forecasting frameworks, and quantitative models.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to express complex views clearly, concisely, and with conviction.
· A genuine interest in gas markets and a willingness to develop/grow an active network of industry contacts.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
· High level of written English.
Desirable skills
· Prior experience at an energy trading desk.
· Background in statistical, econometric, or quantitative analysis.
· Experience using proprietary or alternative datasets to generate differentiated market views.
· Experience presenting market views at conferences, in client forums, and to the media.
· Fluency in a language other than English, particularly Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Hindi, Spanish, Russian, or Turkish.
