General Summary
Under the supervision of the Golf General Manager, the Golf Pro Shop Assistant Manager assists with the day-to-day operations of the Pro Shop and Outside Services, including the cart barn and practice facility. This position assists with staff supervision, guest service, golf operations, merchandising, tournaments, programs, and other activities that support the efficient operation of the golf course and provide a positive experience for guests.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Assists with the daily operation of the Pro Shop, Outside Services, cart barn, and practice facility, including directing and supporting assigned staff.
- In the absence of designated Golf management staff, assumes assigned operational oversight responsibilities for golf course operations.
- Assists with Pro Shop administrative functions, including preparing daily cash deposits, balancing receipts, completing reports, and maintaining appropriate records.
- Opens and closes the Pro Shop as assigned and assists with the supervision of starting times and pace of play. Monitors golf course activity and assists with the enforcement of applicable golf rules, regulations, policies, and standards of conduct.
- Assists with the supervision, scheduling, timekeeping, training, and day-to-day direction of part-time employees assigned to the Pro Shop, cart barn, and practice facility.
- Assists with Pro Shop merchandising activities, including purchasing, receiving, displays, pricing, inventory control, and maintaining an organized retail environment.
- Assists with the planning, coordination, execution, and supervision of Junior Golf programs, group instruction, and other golf-related programming.
- Assists with the inspection, maintenance, repair coordination, cleaning, and rotation of the golf cart fleet.
- Assists with the general operation and organization of the cart barn and practice facility.
- Provides excellent customer service and assists in maintaining positive and professional relationships with guests, employees, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Assists Golf management with the planning, organization, execution, and promotion of tournaments, special events, and other golf course activities.
- Serves as a liaison, as assigned, with Men’s, Ladies’, Seniors, and other golf clubs and organizations utilizing the facility.
- Assists with the coordination and execution of outside events, tournament play, and other group golf activities.
- Assists with Cottonwood Lodge operations as assigned based on operational needs.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
- Ability to provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment while effectively managing multiple priorities and interruptions.
- Working knowledge of the game of golf, golf course operations, pace of play, and golf reservation and tee-time systems.
- Working knowledge of computers, point-of-sale systems, cash handling procedures, and the ability to accurately process and balance daily receipts.
- Ability to assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of golf tournaments, programs, special events, and other golf activities.
- Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively with employees, guests, vendors, golf clubs, and members of the public.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment within established policies and procedures, and work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to provide day-to-day direction, training, and guidance to assigned employees and model excellent customer service and professional conduct.
- Ability to understand and consistently apply District and Golf Course policies, procedures, rules, and operational standards.
Working Environment/Physical Activities
- Must be able to work a varied schedule based on operational needs, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and direct sunlight.
- May work near moving mechanical equipment, golf carts, maintenance equipment, and other equipment commonly used in golf course operations.
- May be exposed to moderate to occasionally loud noise levels depending on the work location and activity.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop, and perform other physical activities necessary to carry out assigned duties.
- Regularly required to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. May occasionally assist with moving heavier equipment or materials with assistance or appropriate equipment as needed.
Education/Experience
High school diploma or equivalent and at least one (1) year of experience in golf operations, reservations, retail, recreation, hospitality, customer service, or a related environment.
Relevant college or university coursework in Recreation, Physical Education, Business Management, Finance, Accounting, or a related field may substitute for up to six (6) months of the required experience.
Golf industry experience and/or PGA affiliation is preferred.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record, as required to operate District vehicles and equipment in the performance of assigned duties.
