GCM ASSISTANT MECHANIC

Assistant Equipment Mechanic - GCM

Under supervision, assists equipment mechanic in the repair and maintenance of motorized equipment, independently does a variety of mechanical repair and maintenance work, services motorized equipment, and performs related tasks required.

DUTIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Assists head equipment mechanic.
• Does work in overhauling and repairing automotive and other powered equipment.
• Cleans working areas after repair work in completed.
• Assists in electric and gas welding.
• Lubricates and services automotive equipment.
• Inspects equipment for operating deficiencies and makes routine adjustments where necessary.
• Fills automotive equipment with gas and oil.
• Inspects, changes and repairs tires.
• Maintains operating records.
• May do body repair and painting work.
• Repairs and adjusts the engines and cutting mechanisms on a wide variety of heavy and light mowing equipment.
• Performs other routine duties.

Working knowledge of the general operation of gasoline and diesel engines. Knowledge of proper methods for servicing automotive equipment and the sharpening, repair, and adjustment of power mowing equipment. Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions. Aptitude for mechanical problem diagnosis and repair work methods. Mechanically able. Ability to use common mechanical tools. Must have own tools.
