GCP Data Engineers
Summary
Emagine is hiring Senior GCP Data Engineers in Romania for a 100% remote, full-time engagement of about 12 months (extendable). The role focuses on designing scalable batch and real-time data platforms and streaming pipelines on Google Cloud, using Kafka, Flink, Spark/PySpark, Python and SQL. Candidates must be EU residents and available at short notice.
We are seeking experienced Senior GCP Data Engineers with strong hands-on coding skills and proven experience in developing scalable batch and real-time data platforms. The ideal candidates will have a demonstrated track record in building data pipelines and working with streaming technologies. Candidates must be EU residents and available at short notice.
Main Responsibilities:
Design and build scalable batch and real-time data platforms
Develop high-throughput, event-driven streaming pipelines processing large volumes of events per second
Implement end-to-end streaming architectures
Work with temporal joins, watermarks, state management, checkpointing, and exactly-once processing
Monitor backpressure and optimize pipeline performance
Design and develop data lakes, ETL/ELT pipelines, and analytics-ready data platforms
Write production-ready code and successfully complete live coding assessments
Key Requirements:
Strong Google Cloud Platform / GCP Data Engineering experience
Strong hands-on coding skills
Proven streaming experience
Experience with Apache Kafka and Apache Flink
Proficient in Python, Spark, PySpark, and SQL
Experience with Hadoop, Snowflake, data lakes, and ETL/ELT pipelines
Experience with scalable batch and real-time data platforms
Fluency in English
Nice to Have:
Experience in Agile team environments
Additional certifications in Cloud technologies
Experience with data modeling and data warehousing concepts
Other Details:
This role is 100% remote. The project has just started with a full-time engagement expected for approximately 12 months initially, with a potential extension. The team will consist of around 10 members, including key roles such as Product Owner and Technical Architect.
