Gear Cut & Grind (Machinist Intern) - DSC 3rd Shift
Summary
Operates and maintains gear-cutting and grinding machinery to produce precision gears and splines, adhering to strict tolerances and testing protocols.
Work Performed\:
Sets up and operates all types of gear manufacturing equipment including gear cutters, gear grinders, gear shavers, lapping machines, etc., to produce a wide variety of gears and splines including spiral bevel, helical and hypoid gears. Set ups and work must be held to extremely close tolerances. Advises and assists in development of new gears and gear cutting processes. Tests and checks gears using gear testing and checking machines and equipment. Sets up and/or performs all grinding on case hardened surfaces. Will not be retained in this position longer than two (2) years.
