JOB DESCRIPTION
1. GenAI Engineering & Technical Execution

Lead the design and implementation of production-ready GenAI solutions, internal AI tools, agents, integrations, and reusable capabilities.
Remain hands-on in architecture, prototyping, and development, particularly where rapid technical validation is needed.
Translate business and engineering problems into practical AI solutions, balancing speed, quality, scalability, and maintainability.
Drive initiatives from experimentation through implementation, adoption, and measurable impact.
Help determine when the right solution is to build internally, integrate an existing technology, use an external platform, or avoid AI altogether.

2. Technical Roadmap & Ownership

Own the GenAI engineering roadmap and execution, aligned with the broader playAI strategy and priorities.
Identify and prioritize high-impact opportunities based on business value, technical feasibility, adoption potential, cost, and scalability.
Balance short-term experimentation with the development of reusable and sustainable technical capabilities.
Establish a repeatable approach for moving AI initiatives from opportunity identification and prototyping through validation, integration, adoption, and measurement.
Contribute technical insight and recommendations to the broader evolution of the playAI strategy and architecture.

3. Team Leadership & Development

Directly manage and develop AI engineers within playAI.
Set clear goals, priorities, ownership, and technical expectations for the team.
Provide technical mentorship, architectural guidance, code and design reviews, feedback, and career development.
Develop engineers into increasingly independent technical owners capable of leading initiatives end-to-end.
Create an environment that encourages experimentation while maintaining strong engineering standards.
Build strong collaboration across playAI and engineering teams in different global locations.
Help shape the structure, responsibilities, and operating model of the GenAI engineering function as the team grows.

4. AI Adoption & Cross-Functional Enablement

Work closely with Engineering teams to identify where AI can materially improve development workflows, productivity, and quality.
Partner with Creative, Product, Data, and studio teams on cross-functional AI initiatives where relevant.
Build reusable AI capabilities and workflows that make AI easier to adopt across PLAYSTUDIOS.
Work directly with users during discovery, implementation, and rollout to ensure solutions address real problems and integrate naturally into existing workflows.
Identify barriers to adoption and help teams move from experimentation to effective day-to-day usage.
Help successful AI initiatives scale beyond individual teams through reusable patterns, documentation, technical guidance, and best practices.

5. Technology Evaluation & Responsible AI

Stay current with the rapidly evolving AI ecosystem and evaluate emerging models, tools, platforms, and development approaches.
Run focused technical evaluations based on real business and engineering use cases.
Make practical build-versus-buy recommendations based on capability, reliability, cost, security, maintainability, scalability, and vendor dependency.
Ensure solutions follow PLAYSTUDIOS standards for security, privacy, intellectual property, data handling, and responsible AI.
Identify technical and operational risks, including model reliability, data exposure, cost, and vendor dependency, and work with relevant stakeholders to establish appropriate guardrails.

REQUIREMENT

6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of shipping production systems.

Excellent written and spoken English.

Strong Python. You write it daily and comfortably; it is our primary language for AI work.

Strong hands-on Generative AI experience: LLM APIs, agents and tool calling, RAG, context engineering, evaluation and observability, and AI application architecture.

2+ years directly managing engineers — goals, performance reviews, career development, feedback, and hiring. A formal manager title is not required; real ownership of people is.

The ability to hold your own with senior stakeholders and executives, and to move a global, multi-site organization in one direction.

Solid software architecture fundamentals: APIs, integrations, distributed systems, modern engineering practice.

Nice to have: game development or gaming technology, Unity/C#, developer tooling and developer experience, building internal AI platforms, cloud and containerized environments, AI security, privacy, and governance.
BENEFITS AND PERKS
