General Attorney (Ethics)
If you have experience providing legal counsel on administrative law issues and want to play an integral role in maintaining public trust by advising on federal ethics concerns, then consider joining the Office of the General Counsel at the Federal Trade Commission.
If you are selected for General Attorney (Ethics) position, you will: Work with the Designated Agency Ethics Official (DAEO) and the Alternate Designated Agency Ethics Official (ADAEO) to provide support for the FTC's comprehensive federal ethics program; Work closely with other members of the Ethics Team to implement the FTC's ethics program; Assist with the administration of the FTC's federal ethics program, and executes programmatic responsibility on behalf of the Commission for all ethics program elements mandated by the Ethics in Government Act; Support the overall planning, organization, and implementation of the FTC's ethics program, including coordination of activities carried out in the agency's eight regional offices; Provide expert legal advice to Commissioners and staff members on federal criminal conflict of interest statutes, standards of ethics conduct regulations financial disclosure requirements, non-federal-source travel reimbursement, gift acceptance, post-federal government employment, and political activity restrictions; Prepare reports for the U.S. Office of Government Ethics (OGE); Develop and execute training in accordance with OGE training regulations; Provide legal advice to FTC officials on a wide variety of issues arising under the FTC's ethics program; and May assist in providing support to other aspects of Legal Counsel work.
