NewBe an early applicantWHO
A leading international law firm with offices in Hong Kong and Singapore is seeking an Associate to join its growing Corporate & Commercial practice in Hong Kong. The firm advises a broad range of clients — from private and public listed companies to private equity investors — on complex cross-border transactions across multiple sectors including financial services, healthcare, technology, media and telecommunications, retail and consumer, real estate and construction, and energy and natural resources. The role reports into the Corporate & Commercial partner team and offers direct exposure to high-profile matters, close partner mentorship, and genuine cross-border collaboration across offices. The firm has a strong entrepreneurial culture and is actively growing its Hong Kong corporate practice.
WHAT
You will advise on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, restructurings, commercial agreements, data protection and privacy, intellectual property, and employment issues. You will manage matters independently from inception to completion — drafting, reviewing, and negotiating transaction-related documentation with minimal supervision. The role involves direct client contact, collaboration with colleagues across practice groups and jurisdictions on complex cross-border matters, and active engagement in business development and client marketing to support the continued growth of the practice. You will also demonstrate leadership with junior colleagues through delegation, mentoring, and coaching.
YOU
The successful candidate will be a Hong Kong-qualified solicitor with 4-6 years' post-qualification experience gained at a reputable law firm, with solid training and a strong grounding in corporate and commercial law. Candidates who are slight less or more experienced than this range could be considered.
You should have experience across a combination of corporate, commercial and data protection matters. Further experience advising intellectual property and employment matters would be a bonus although not mandatory. Excellent drafting, analytical, and technical legal skills are essential, along with strong commercial awareness, business judgement, and a client-centric mindset. You should be able to manage matters independently and take ownership of your work while collaborating effectively within a team. Strong project management and organisational skills are required, with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines. Strong written and verbal English skills are essential; Chinese language capability (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is required.
