General Engineer

This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. As a General Engineer, you will: Assist in the design, development, and execution of engineering research projects focused on preventing traumatic workplace injuries and fatalities. Participate in the design, calibration, operation, and evaluation of engineering instrumentation and equipment used in laboratory experiments and field testing. Assist in preparing technical reports, research documentation, and portions of scientific publications. Design and conduct small engineering research projects or perform major portions of larger engineering projects focused on preventing traumatic workplace injuries and fatalities. Plan and conduct engineering tests; collect, analyze, and interpret data from laboratory, field, and modeling studies. Prepare technical reports, contribute to scientific publications, and communicate engineering findings to multidisciplinary teams. Plan and conduct engineering studies and experimental evaluations. Analyze and interpret engineering data, assess system performance, and recommend improvements to engineering designs and methodologies using established engineering principles. Prepare technical reports, scientific publications, and presentations summarizing engineering methods and research findings.
