About the Role

HBM Nigeria Plc. is seeking a General Ledger Accountant to maintain accurate financial records, ensure IFRS compliance, and oversee general ledger activities in line with statutory requirements and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing processes.
• Perform balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate provisions, accruals, journal entries, and general ledger balances.
• Support statutory reporting, financial analysis, and accounting policy updates.
• Strengthen internal controls and identify process improvements.
• Coordinate external audits and maintain accurate financial documentation.
• Ensure accurate accounting for loans, bonds, fixed deposit interest, and unclaimed dividends.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting or Social Sciences.
• ACA or ACCA certification.
• At least 5 years of post-NYSC experience, including 3 years in a similar role.
• Knowledge of ERP systems, preferably JDE or SAP.
• Practical knowledge of IAS, IFRS, internal controls, and statutory financial reporting.
• Knowledge of cement accounting and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
