General Ledger Manager

The GL Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the closing process; monthly, quarterly and annually ensuring timeliness and accuracy.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage accounting staff of various levels
  • Analyze financial results to determine areas to improve
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close in GL
  • Expense variance analysis vs Budget and 12 month trends
  • Ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Must possess strong working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Direct compliance efforts to comply with SOX and internal policies
  • Preparation and review of quarterly and year end footnotes
  • Evaluate vendor contracts for proper accounting treatment
  • Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
  • Perform and Review Balance sheet accounts reconciliations
  • Manage Inventory Analysis and Reporting
  • Direct Period Close and Consolidation
  • Provide training to new and existing staff as needed
  • Supervision of assigned staff and roles including ownership of multiple controls
  • Interface with management in various departments, including sales, operations, vendor relations, IT and legal as may be necessary
  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
  • Work with finance and accounting team to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress
  • Support with special projects and workflow process improvements including identifying and implementing automation where applicable
  • Planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reporting process of the company

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
  • CPA preferred but not required
  • Strong technical accounting background
  • At least five years general ledger accounting experience is required
  • Understanding and experience with SOX compliance, auditing and required reporting
  • Experience in a public company with a control environment highly desired
  • 3-4 years of prior public accounting experience preferred
  • Strong Excel experience
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle preferred)
  • Ability to understand contracts and how to implement contract terms into business activities
  • Extensive experience with ASC 606 and application of those principles

This position has direct reports.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position with general hours of work during day shift hours.

Travel

This position will require travel to the various locations within the organizational structure, to trainings and meetings, etc.
