General Manager - Amarillo, TX

Position Overview:

The General Manager is an operational leader responsible for overseeing a terminal location, ensuring excellence in safety, personnel management, operational performance, and customer satisfaction. This role drives consistent execution of company values and standards, while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

The General Manager will plan, implement, and evaluate programs that ensure safe operations, optimize efficiency, and deliver superior customer service, all while balancing cost control and financial performance. This position requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to build effective relationships with internal teams, vendor partners, and customers.


Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Provide leadership, mentorship and development to Superintendents and their teams across the facility, promoting high performance and accountability to ensure operational excellence.
  2. Conduct performance reviews, succession planning, and coaching to strengthen leadership pipelines.
  3. Develop and implement strategies to optimize performance, reduce turnaround times, and control costs.
  4. Partner with support departments including Human Resources, Logistics, NVOCC, Finance, and Commercial to drive cross-functional success.
  5. Establish new and strengthen existing relationships with external business partners, key customers and stakeholders (steamship lines, railroads, vendors, maintenance contractors, etc.).
  6. Ensure all terminal operations comply with Federal, State, industry, and internal safety regulations.
  7. Embody and champion company values: Safety, Efficiency, Adaptability, Reliability, and Service.
  8. Establish a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement across all facilities.
  9. Oversee completion of safety meetings, audits, and incident reports.
  10. Conduct risk assessments and collaborate with managers and HR on emergency response planning.
  11. Support Superintendents in addressing customer concerns, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  12. Promote a customer-first culture across the terminal location.
  13. Oversee maintenance and safe operation of terminal equipment, including cranes, trucks, and machinery.
  14. Maintain accurate records of company equipment / assets.
  15. Monitor industry trends and adopt new technologies to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
  16. Partner with site leadership to plan and manage terminal budgets, ensuring alignment with company financial goals.
  17. Monitor and control expenses while identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  18. Recommend strategies for revenue growth and margin improvement.
  19. Track and report on company and terminal KPIs, ensuring accountability for results.
