General Manager - ANTHC Lodging at Midtown
General Manager | ANTHC Lodging at Midtown
Anchorage, Alaska
Full-Time Salaried
Employer: JL Hospitality Management
JL Hospitality Management is seeking a hands-on General Manager to lead ANTHC Lodging at Midtown, a hotel owned by the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) that provides lodging for patients traveling to Anchorage for medical care.
This role combines hotel operations leadership with a thoughtful, compassionate approach to hospitality. We’re looking for an experienced hotel leader who can build a strong team, maintain a safe and comfortable property, and support guests who may be navigating challenging circumstances.
The property is managed by JL Hospitality Management. This position is employed by JL Hospitality Management, not ANTHC, and is responsible for hotel operations rather than clinical care.
What You’ll Do
- Lead daily hotel operations, including front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance.
- Create a welcoming, respectful environment for patients and those accompanying them.
- Coach associates on compassionate service, discretion, professional boundaries, and responding appropriately to guest concerns.
- Serve as the property’s primary operational contact for ANTHC representatives, coordinating lodging needs and addressing service concerns.
- Maintain property standards and follow JL Hospitality Management policies, operating procedures, and applicable property-specific requirements.
- Recruit, train, coach, and develop associates and department leaders.
- Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and hold your team accountable.
- Manage budgets, staffing, labor costs, and operating expenses to meet financial and service goals.
- Review operational and financial reports to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and service.
- Keep the property clean, safe, and well maintained, with consistent attention to cleanliness and sanitation.
- Ensure associates follow established emergency procedures and appropriately escalate concerns requiring medical or emergency assistance.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and health and safety requirements.
What We’re Looking For
- At least two years of related hotel management experience.
- A proven record of leading hotel operations, developing teams, and managing financial performance.
- Previous General Manager or Assistant General Manager experience at a select-service, extended-stay, or patient lodging property preferred.
- A compassionate, professional approach to working with patients and their families.
- The ability to serve guests from diverse backgrounds with cultural awareness and respect.
- Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to handle sensitive situations calmly.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of hotel budgets, financial statements, labor management, and cost controls.
- The ability to prioritize, delegate, and follow through in a busy lodging environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and hotel operating systems.
Additional Screening Requirements
Employment at this property is contingent upon successful completion of enhanced background screening required for the patient lodging setting. These screening requirements are more extensive than those used for a typical hotel position and support the property’s alignment with hospital screening standards.
Schedule
Hotel operations run seven days a week. This position requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
