🌍 General Manager / Senior Trader – International Petrochemical Trading
📍 Location: Singapore / Indonesia
We are representing an established international industrial group looking to expand its petrochemical trading business across international markets.
We are seeking an experienced General Manager / Senior Trader with strong commercial and trading experience in Polyethylene (PE), particularly HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE and/or mLLDPE.
This role can suit either an experienced commercial leader capable of building and leading the trading business, or a strong senior trader with an established international customer and supplier network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and grow the international petrochemical trading business, with a primary focus on Polyethylene (PE).
- Build and manage international customer and supplier relationships across China, Southeast Asia and other key global markets.
- Source products from producers and suppliers and develop downstream customers and distribution channels.
- Identify trading opportunities through market intelligence, supply-demand analysis and price movements.
- Lead commercial negotiations covering pricing, payment terms, contracts and trading terms.
- Manage the full trading cycle from sourcing and commercial negotiation through shipment and delivery.
- Develop relationships with producers, distributors, trading houses and industrial end-users.
- Identify opportunities to expand into complementary non-PE chemical products.
- Work closely with Operations, Logistics, Finance and other internal teams to ensure smooth transaction execution.
- For GM-level candidates: build the business strategy, develop the trading platform and lead the commercial/trading team.
Primary Product Focus – Polyethylene (PE)
Candidates should have strong trading or commercial experience in one or more of the following:
• HDPE – High-Density Polyethylene
• LDPE – Low-Density Polyethylene
• LLDPE – Linear Low-Density Polyethylene
• mLLDPE – Metallocene Linear Low-Density Polyethylene
Strong existing supplier and/or customer networks within the PE market will be highly advantageous.
Secondary Product Exposure
Experience in the following products would be an added advantage:
• PVC – Polyvinyl Chloride
• Caustic Soda – Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH)
• Ammonia (NH₃)
• LPG – Liquefied Petroleum Gas
Requirements:
- Degree in Business, Chemical Engineering, International Trade, Economics or a related discipline.
- Strong experience in international petrochemical / chemical trading, ideally with direct PE trading exposure.
- Hands-on knowledge of HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE and/or mLLDPE markets.
- Established relationships with producers, suppliers, distributors and/or end-users will be highly advantageous.
- Proven ability to develop new customers and international markets.
- Strong understanding of pricing, supply-demand dynamics, commercial negotiation and physical trading.
- Comfortable managing transactions from sourcing and negotiation through contract and shipment execution.
- Able to communicate independently with suppliers and customers in China.
- For GM-level candidates, proven experience building a trading business, developing strategy and leading commercial teams would be highly regarded.
