General Manager - Clinic Operations
Our client, a distinguished longevity and preventive medicine practice with an ambitious growth agenda and an uncompromising standard of delivery, is seeking a General Manager of exceptional calibre — a commercially driven, operationally sharp, and people-focused leader who will own the full business function of the clinic from day one. This is not a coordination role and it is not a back-office appointment. It is a general management position for a professional who is hungry to build something, comfortable owning a P&L, and confident enough to lead a multidisciplinary team while keeping one eye firmly on growth and the other on the client experience. We are looking for someone young, ambitious, and deeply invested in building a high-performing business in one of the most exciting emerging healthcare sectors in East Africa.
The Longevity Institute is a pioneering, doctor-led longevity and preventive medicine clinic currently being established in Westlands, Nairobi — and one of the first dedicated institutions of its kind in East Africa. Founded on the conviction that exceptional healthcare should optimize life before illness develops rather than simply respond to it, the Institute is building a clinical environment where evidence-based preventive medicine, advanced diagnostics, and innovative regenerative therapies converge to deliver a standard of personalized care that is genuinely transformative.
The Institute's comprehensive service offering spans preventive health assessments, medical weight management, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, cryotherapy, intravenous nutrient therapy, red light therapy, body composition analysis, and fully individualised wellness and longevity programmes — all delivered by a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, therapists, and patient care specialists working in genuine collaboration.
Beyond the clinical offering, The Longevity Institute is committed to building a workplace of distinction — one where talented, ambitious professionals grow alongside an organization that values professionalism, compassion, continuous learning, and an uncompromising commitment to the patient experience. As a founding team member, you will have the rare opportunity to shape the culture, the systems, and the standard of one of Kenya's most exciting healthcare ventures from the very beginning.
We are looking for individuals who lead with excellence, embrace innovation, and are genuinely passionate about helping people live longer, healthier, and more fulfilling lives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Take full ownership of the clinic's day-to-day business operations — from scheduling and patient flow to facilities, vendor management, and service delivery standards ensuring every function runs at the level the practice's reputation demands.
Own the clinic's financial performance: budget management, cost control, procurement, revenue tracking, billing accuracy, and financial reporting directly to the Medical Director with the confidence and literacy to make financial decisions independently.
Lead the procurement function sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier and vendor relationships across clinical consumables, equipment, and operational services, always balancing quality, cost, and reliability.
Drive an exceptional client and patient experience across every touchpoint of the clinic setting the standard, monitoring it consistently, and personally resolving any breakdown before it affects the practice's reputation.
Build, lead, and develop the non-clinical team, front office, administrative, and support staff setting clear performance expectations, managing performance proactively, and cultivating a culture that reflects the practice's values.
Work closely with the Business Development Manager to actively support commercial growth, understand the client pipeline, contributing to corporate and partnership strategy, and ensuring that what is promised to clients can be delivered operationally.
Identify operational and commercial opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, grow revenue, and enhance the patient experience and bring these forward with proposals and business cases, not just observations.
Ensure full compliance with applicable healthcare regulatory requirements, licensing standards, and governance frameworks building a culture of accountability rather than checkbox compliance.
Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, hospitality, or a closely related field. A postgraduate qualification is an advantage but results and track record matter more than credentials at this level.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a General Manager, Business Manager, or senior operational leadership role — with demonstrable ownership of financials, people, and commercial performance. We are not looking for a coordinator; we are looking for someone who has run something.
Financially literate and commercially minded: comfortable reading a P&L, owning a budget, leading procurement decisions, and thinking about the business in terms of revenue, margin, and growth — not just operations.
A proven people leader: experienced in building and managing teams, holding people to a high standard with warmth and firmness, and creating a working environment that retains good performers and develops potential.
A background in healthcare, hospitality, luxury retail, private services, financial services, or any other high-expectation, client-facing environment where the quality of the experience is as important as the quality of the product.
Digitally confident: comfortable with management systems, financial reporting tools, procurement platforms, and the expectation of building a digital operational infrastructure from the ground up.
Excellent communication and personal presentation — comfortable engaging with the Medical Director, a corporate partner, or a high-net-worth patient, and able to represent the practice credibly and confidently at every level.
WHAT SETS YOU APART
You do not wait to be told what needs fixing. You see it, you own it and you fix it.
You are young enough to be hungry and experienced enough to know what good looks like and the gap between those two things is what drives you.
You think like a business owner, not an employee. Revenue, cost, client retention, and team performance are things you take personally because they are yours to own.
You thrive in environments that are still being built. Ambiguity does not unsettle you — it energizes you.
You are the kind of professional who makes a practice better simply by being in it — and the people around you know it.
