Position Summary

Check City is seeking an experienced, results-driven Collections General Manager to oversee front-end collections, legal collections, and garnishment operations. This role is responsible for driving recovery performance, developing strong leadership teams, ensuring regulatory compliance, and improving operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in consumer finance collections, proven leadership experience, and the ability to use data, technology, and strategic planning to maximize results.

Key Responsibilities

• Operations & Performance: Oversee multiple collections departments, establish performance goals, monitor KPIs, analyze results, and implement strategies to improve recovery rates and efficiency.
• Leadership & Development: Lead, coach, and hold managers and supervisors accountable for performance, employee development, staffing, and team productivity.
• Technology & Process Improvement: Optimize collection systems, automated dialers, text messaging, payment platforms, reporting tools, and operational workflows.
• Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, company policies, and established collection procedures.
• Financial & Strategic Management: Monitor budgets, staffing, expenses, and operational results while identifying opportunities to reduce costs and improve profitability.
• Executive Reporting: Present performance results, identify trends, and recommend operational improvements to executive leadership.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal departments, legal resources, and outside vendors to support business objectives and improve collection outcomes.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in collections, consumer finance, or related financial services field.
• 3+ years of management experience overseeing collections teams or operations.
• Strong knowledge of collection strategies, delinquency management, recovery performance, and payment arrangements.
• Proven ability to lead multiple teams, develop managers, and consistently achieve performance goals.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Working knowledge of applicable federal and state collection laws and regulations.
• Experience with collection management systems, automated dialers, payment platforms, and reporting tools.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and business reporting.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in consumer lending, installment lending, or consumer financial services.
• Experience overseeing legal collections, judgments, and wage garnishments.
• Experience implementing collection technology, automation, and process improvements.
• Experience with budgeting, performance reporting, quality assurance, and compliance reviews.
