GENERAL MANAGER IN TRAINING (GMIT)
8-Week General Manager Development Program
Applications extended through 9/7/26 for Colorado applicants only.
READY TO LEAD A CLUB?
We're launching our August 2026 GM in Training cohort!
The General Manager in Training (GMIT) Program is an 8-week development opportunity designed to prepare high-potential VASA leaders to step into a General Manager role.
As a GM, you're responsible for bringing all parts of the club together--your people, your business, your member experience, and the House of VASA. During the program, you'll get hands-on experience developing the skills needed to lead the entire club and drive results through your team.
With two participants selected from each region, this is an opportunity to invest in your development, expand your leadership impact, and prepare for the next step in your VASA career.
WHAT YOU'LL DEVELOP
Throughout the eight-week program, you'll work alongside experienced club and district leadership to learn what it takes to successfully lead a VASA club.
Your development will focus on:
- Running the Business: Understanding the financial performance of the club, including member growth, revenue, operating profit, fitness revenue, labor, turnover, and member retention
- Leading Your Leaders: Learning to set expectations, coach performance, create accountability, and develop your club's Lead team
- Building Your Team: Developing your ability to recruit, interview, hire, and retain strong talent across the club
- Driving Club Performance: Setting priorities, creating business plans, identifying opportunities, and translating goals into action
- Coaching & Developing Talent: Giving meaningful feedback, recognizing strong performance, addressing performance concerns, and building a bench for the future
- Creating an UPLIFTing Club Experience: Ensuring your team consistently delivers a clean, friendly, safe, and welcoming environment for members
- Leading the House of VASA: Bringing our purpose and values to life through the culture you create and the way you lead
- Partnering Across VASA: Building relationships with district leadership and support teams to solve problems and drive results
