Our client, a Japanese marine engineering company specialising in the repair and reconditioning of marine diesel engine components, is seeking a General Manager to oversee its Singapore operations.
【 Responsibilities 】
- Oversee the company’s Singapore business, including sales, operations, production, finance, HR, and administration.
- Manage profit and loss (P&L), budgets, profitability, and overall business performance.
- Develop and implement business strategies aligned with the direction of the headquarters in Japan.
- Lead sales and business development activities and maintain strong relationships with key marine industry customers.
- Oversee workshop and production operations to ensure quality, safety, cost efficiency, and timely delivery.
- Lead and develop department heads and employees across the organisation.
- Review operational and financial key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement.
- Resolve major customer, commercial, and operational issues.
- Prepare regular business reports and performance updates for the headquarters in Japan.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, quality requirements
【 Requirements & Preferences 】
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Marine Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in marine engineering, shipping, ship repair, or related industries.
- Strong experience in P&L management, budgeting, cost control, and business management.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
(Advantageous)
- Experience managing both commercial and operational functions.
- Established professional network with shipowners, ship management companies, or shipping companies.applicable local regulations.
