General Manager

Job Description

The General Manager (Freight & Logistics) will be responsible for overseeing the company’s overall freight transportation and logistics operations. The role involves developing business strategies, managing daily operations, building customer and vendor relationships, controlling operational costs, and ensuring that all transport activities comply with Singapore regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and manage the company’s freight and road transport operations.
• Develop business strategies to increase revenue and expand the customer base.
• Secure new logistics contracts and maintain relationships with existing clients.
• Negotiate rates and service agreements with customers, transporters, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Coordinate vehicle deployment, delivery schedules and manpower requirements.
• Monitor freight movements and ensure timely collection and delivery of goods.
• Manage operational budgets, transportation costs and profitability.
• Review business performance and prepare management reports.
• Recruit, supervise and evaluate operations and administrative employees.
• Establish standard operating procedures for logistics and transportation activities.
• Ensure compliance with MOM, LTA, workplace safety and other applicable requirements.
• Handle customer complaints, delivery issues and operational emergencies.
• Work closely with customers, drivers, suppliers and business partners to maintain service quality.
• Identify operational risks and implement corrective and preventive measures.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent professional qualification.
• At least 5 years of management experience, preferably in logistics, freight forwarding, transportation or a related industry.
• Strong leadership, business development and operational management skills.
• Good knowledge of freight coordination, road transport operations and vendor management.
• Strong communication, negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
• Able to manage budgets, operational costs and business performance.
• Willing to work flexible hours when required by operational needs.
