GENERAL MANAGER
ZAXBY'S STONECREST | STONECREST, GA
Position: Restaurant General Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Operations Manager
Compensation: Competitive, based on experience
GREAT RESTAURANTS DON'T HAPPEN BY ACCIDENT. GREAT LEADERS BUILD THEM.
At Zaxby's Stonecrest, we're building something bigger than a successful restaurant. We're building a culture of ownership, accountability, growth, and operational excellence.
We're looking for a General Manager who knows that leadership is about more than giving directions. It's about developing people, creating clear expectations, and building teams that consistently deliver results.
We want a leader who can inspire people while holding high standards. Someone who can coach a struggling employee, challenge a developing manager, understand the numbers, and make tough decisions when needed.
Our leadership philosophy is simple:
LEAD BY SERVING. CREATE CLARITY. DEVELOP PEOPLE. PROTECT THE STANDARD. FOLLOW THROUGH.
If you believe your success is measured by the people you develop and the results your team delivers, we want to meet you.
THE OPPORTUNITY
As General Manager, you will take ownership of the restaurant's daily performance, people, culture, guest experience, and financial results.
You will work alongside the Operations Manager to execute business priorities, strengthen the leadership team, and drive sustainable improvement.
This is not a position for someone who simply wants to run shifts.
This is an opportunity for a leader who wants to build a high-performing restaurant and develop the next generation of leaders.
YOUR CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Build Leaders. Develop People.
People development is one of your most important responsibilities.
- Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and retain strong team members.
- Develop Shift Leaders, Assistant Managers, and future General Managers.
- Coach managers to lead their teams rather than simply work stations.
- Build consistent training and certification processes.
- Verify that employees can demonstrate skills, not just complete training modules.
- Identify leadership potential and create growth opportunities.
- Conduct regular coaching conversations and performance reviews.
- Build a leadership team capable of running successful shifts without constant intervention.
Our expectation: Great leaders create more great leaders.
2. Own the Guest Experience.
Every guest deserves an experience built around five standards:
HOT. ACCURATE. CLEAN. KIND. FAST.
You will:
- Lead a team that delivers quality food and genuine hospitality.
- Improve drive-thru speed, order accuracy, and service consistency.
- Monitor guest feedback and address concerns with urgency.
- Coach team members to recover guest experiences with care.
- Use performance data to identify service opportunities.
- Maintain strong execution during peak periods and slower dayparts.
Our expectation: Great guest experiences are created through consistent daily habits.
3. Lead Operational Excellence.
You will ensure the restaurant operates with discipline, consistency, and attention to detail.
- Maintain full restaurant awareness throughout every shift.
- Ensure food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards are met.
- Establish clear expectations for restaurant readiness.
- Maintain effective deployment, shift plans, and position assignments.
- Ensure daily checklists, critical counts, and operating procedures are completed and verified.
- Identify operational issues before they become larger problems.
- Maintain equipment, facilities, and restaurant appearance.
- Follow through on assigned priorities until results are confirmed.
Our expectation: Don't just identify problems. Own the solution.
4. Drive Financial Performance.
You will take ownership of restaurant profitability by understanding the decisions and behaviors that affect the business.
- Manage food cost, labor, waste, inventory, and controllable expenses.
- Build labor schedules based on sales forecasts and operational demands.
- Monitor sales trends, guest counts, and restaurant performance.
- Identify and correct inventory variances, excessive waste, and unnecessary expenses.
- Protect product availability through accurate ordering and inventory controls.
- Review operational and financial reports to guide decisions.
- Develop action plans to improve profitability without sacrificing guest experience or team development.
Our expectation: Know your numbers. Understand what drives them. Take action.
5. Build a Culture of Accountability and Ownership.
Our leaders do more than enforce rules. They model the standard, teach the standard, and protect the standard.
- Set clear expectations for managers and employees.
- Lead through consistent communication and personal example.
- Provide hands-on coaching and timely feedback.
- Verify results rather than assume tasks are complete.
- Recognize strong performance and address gaps promptly.
- Apply policies fairly and consistently.
- Create an environment where employees feel respected and responsible for their work.
- Foster trust, teamwork, personal responsibility, and continuous improvement.
Our expectation: Train before you blame. Coach with purpose. Follow through with consistency.
6. Execute Through Your Leadership Team.
Successful General Managers do not carry the entire restaurant on their shoulders.
They build teams and systems that produce strong results.
- Set daily and weekly priorities for the management team.
- Delegate responsibilities with clear ownership and deadlines.
- Conduct productive manager meetings and performance check-ins.
- Ensure leadership communication reaches every shift.
- Review restaurant performance and communicate trends to the Operations Manager.
- Identify barriers, recommend solutions, and execute corrective actions.
- Build systems that maintain standards when senior leadership is away.
Our expectation: Your restaurant should reflect your leadership even when you're not in the building.
