As our project portfolio continues to grow, we are looking for General Operatives to join our team supporting major data centre and critical infrastructure projects across Europe.
The Role
This is a hands-on, site-based position supporting our Commissioning Engineers and Technicians with the preparation, installation and setup of equipment required for commissioning and testing activities.
You do not need previous data centre commissioning experience. We are interested in candidates with practical electrical, construction or engineering experience who are comfortable working in technical site environments and want to develop their experience within the data centre industry.
What You'll Be Doing
- Support Commissioning Engineers and Technicians with commissioning and testing activities.
- Assemble and install electrical equipment in accordance with drawings, procedures and instructions.
- Assist with temporary electrical installations, auxiliary equipment, cabling, containment and connections.
- Prepare and set up equipment for commissioning tests.
- Safely use hand and power tools.
- Read and follow basic electrical drawings, schematics and technical instructions.
- Work alongside electricians, technicians and other skilled trades.
- Follow site safety procedures, RAMS, method statements and permit requirements.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safe working.
- Respond promptly to instructions from the Commissioning Team.
- Support the team in completing commissioning activities safely and efficiently.
What We're Looking For
Essential experience:
- At least 2 years' experience within construction, electrical installation, engineering or another technical site-based environment.
- Practical, hands-on electrical installation or assembly experience.
- Basic understanding of electrical equipment and safe electrical working practices.
- Experience using hand and power tools safely.
- Ability to understand and follow basic electrical drawings and technical instructions.
- Good understanding of site safety, PPE and safe systems of work.
- Comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary site team.
- Good working English to understand safety briefings, instructions and site documentation.
- Willingness to travel internationally and work project-based rotations where required.
Desirable Experience
Previous experience in any of the following would be advantageous, but is not essential:
- Data centres or other mission-critical environments.
- Commissioning or testing.
- Temporary electrical installations or temporary power.
- Generators and load banks.
- Switchgear.
- UPS systems.
- Industrial or manufacturing facilities.
- Utilities or power infrastructure.
- Supporting electrical testing or commissioning teams.
