General Operator
Busso Blues is looking for hardworking, reliable, and motivated General Operators to support our daily farming operations. This is a hands-on role ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, operating machinery, and contributing to the production of high-quality crops.
The General Operator supports the daily operations of the farm and plays an important role in achieving production, quality, and efficiency targets. The successful candidate will assist with a variety of farming activities including machinery operation, crop production, irrigation, property maintenance, and general farm labour.
Key Performance Outputs
Machinery and Equipment Operation
- Operate tractors, harvesters, spray rigs, loaders, and other farm machinery safely and efficiently.
- Carry out spraying, cultivation, harvesting, and transport activities as instructed.
- Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance to ensure equipment remains in good working condition.
- Report equipment faults and maintenance requirements promptly.
Crop and Field Work
- Assist with planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops.
- Ensure harvested produce meets quality standards for size, ripeness, and presentation.
- Minimise product damage during handling and transportation.
- Work efficiently to achieve daily productivity and yield targets.
- Follow handling procedures to maintain product quality and cold-chain requirements where applicable.
- Support irrigation setup, monitoring, and adjustments, including drip irrigation systems.
Perform crop care activities, including:
- Weeding and mulching
- Pest and disease monitoring
- Fertiliser and chemical application under supervision and according to safety guidelines
- Assist with crop protection measures such as netting and frost protection.
Property Maintenance
- Clean and maintain farm buildings, sheds, equipment, and facilities.
- Assist with fence repairs and general property upkeep.
- Ensure work areas comply with health and safety standards.
- Support waste management and environmental sustainability practices.
Team Contribution
- Work effectively with supervisors and fellow team members.
- Follow instructions and adapt to changing operational requirements.
- Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.

Requirements
Education and Qualifications
- No formal educational qualification required.
- Relevant agricultural certifications and farm experience will be advantageous.
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to learn new tasks quickly.
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual labour.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Strong teamwork and willingness to follow instructions.
