DEPARTMENT: Stuffing JOB TITLE: General Production LOCATION: Concordia, MO SHIFT: 1st GRADE: PR01
Scheduled Hours: Monday - Friday 6am - 2:30pm
General Labor positions start at $19.40 per hour.
SUMMARY: All jobs require standing and walking on concrete, working with raw ham product, walking/standing, repetitive bending/lifting/twisting, working in temperatures of 50 degrees or lower, (approximately 45 degrees). Forklift and pallet jack activity will be in the area.
Physical Demands and Requirements of job:
Racking – Requires placing 5-36 lb. hams on racks, while bending, twisting, stooping, and standing. After racking hams on one side of the rack, Team Member will have to push, pull, and turn the rack to place hams on the other side.
Push racks – Requires pushing racks weighing 800-2000 lbs. to other locations of the department
Tipper Tie – Requires standing and gripping/pulling netted product in to position with one hand and pressing a switch to apply clamp with the other hand
Cutting Tails – Requires using scissors or knife, gripping and standing
Net Ruckers – Requires putting netting over a canister and placing canister on the table. Will require lifting netting to stand. Weight is approximately 20 lbs., canisters are self-loading.
Placing casing on horns – requires hand/finger grip
Slop – Requires lifting buckets (5-25 lbs.), bending downward to lift container of product and place on table
Tucking Tails – Requires tucking tails into hams, lifting hams (10-20 lbs.)
Poking hams – Requires using poker to poke after hams are placed on table. Ham is then placed on rack. Requires bending.
Multivac – Requires placing hams on the Multivac machine, then securing the lid. This removes excess air from ham and seals the bag casings.
Stuffer – Placing raw product into horn and hand stuffing product into coffi film and netting
Coffi Film Puller – Requires pulling coffi film and netting after it has been stuffed with ham product. Requires pulling to the left and placing hams on table. Ham is extracted from ham stuffer, stapled, tails cut, and placed on rack. Lifting metal canisters up to 40 lbs. throughout the day.
Puller – Hams are stuffed in netting that is lines with coffi film. The puller pulls the netting stuffed with ham across in front of Team Member’s middle section in a horizontal motion usually with the opposite hand. The netting is clamped at one end using the Brincten, a button is pushed to apply the clamp. This does require pulling and lifting. The hams are then pulled to a table and on to the next process.
Ergonomic stands range in height 3 in. to 12 in.
Wiping ceilings down with ceiling mop
Using a rake to pull ham muscle into the pump machine and repeat the process throughout the day
Food Safety
The Team Member is required to attend orientation where basic Food Safety Training is given. The team member is required to protect the product from contamination at all times and ensure company policies are followed. The Team Member shall contact the Supervisor, Trainer and/or Quality Assurance Department immediately in the event of any unacceptable condition.
The Supervisor/Trainer will keep the team member apprised on job functions to meet the above requirements. The Team member will complete the necessary qualification requirements for the job assigned.
