Description

Overview:

A well-established commercial construction firm is seeking a General Superintendent to support and develop field leadership across multiple projects in the Rocky Mountain region.

This role oversees 10–15+ Superintendents and is centered on strengthening planning discipline, developing high-performing teams, and driving consistent, predictable project execution. The ideal candidate is someone who builds people - not just projects.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in advancing an already strong legacy by introducing greater structure, consistency, and forward-thinking execution across all field operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular jobsite visits with a focus on planning discipline, sequencing, safety, and milestone readiness.
  • Reinforce structured pre-planning and effective lookahead processes across all active projects.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching and development for 10–15+ Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents, focusing on proactive decision-making and leadership growth.
  • Guide teams in identifying risks early and developing sequencing strategies to maintain project stability.
  • Recruit, hire, and develop the next generation of field leaders, building a strong internal talent pipeline.
  • Establish and refine scalable field standard operating procedures that evolve with organizational growth.
  • Ensure strong collaboration between field teams, Project Managers, and senior leadership.
  • Embed safety planning into milestone reviews and daily operations to maintain a proactive safety culture.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record in construction leadership, with a strong emphasis on developing people and teams.
  • Deep experience with pre-planning, milestone planning, and lookahead scheduling practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify high-potential individuals and develop them into effective leaders.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, quality standards, and consistent field execution.
  • Experience building and implementing scalable field systems and SOPs.
  • Ability to lead teams in planning ahead of risks rather than reacting to schedule pressures.

Success in this Role:

  • Clear, structured milestone plans established across all projects
  • 3-week lookaheads functioning as active planning tools, not administrative tasks
  • Field teams consistently planning ahead of risks rather than reacting to them
  • Superintendents proactively identifying constraints and resolving sequencing challenges
  • Safety fully integrated into daily planning and execution
  • Emerging leaders stepping into increased responsibilities
  • Strong pipeline of newly recruited and developed field talent
  • High alignment and trust between field operations and project management
