Geologist Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for soil investigation (SI), geotechnical investigation and ground condition assessment for large-scale reclamation and soil improvement projects.
- Plan, coordinate and supervise various soil investigation works.
- Supervise SI contractors and ensure works are carried out in accordancewith approved method statements, specifications, ITP and project requirements.
- Review and interpret borehole logs, CPT/CPTu data, vane shear results andlaboratory test results.
- Assist in developing and updating geotechnical/soil profiles and groundmodels.
- Coordinate and supervise installation of geotechnical instrumentation.
- Establish baseline readings and coordinate regular instrumentationmonitoring and interpretation.
- Monitor ground response during different stages of reclamation, filling, surcharge and consolidation.
- Coordinate with soil improvement contractors, SI contractors, instrumentation contractors, surveyors, laboratories, consultants and client representatives.
- Review instrumentation installation records, calibration certificates andmonitoring data.
- Verify the quality and reliability of SI and instrumentation data andcoordinate laboratory testing.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly SI/geotechnical monitoring reports.
- Maintain proper records of boreholes, CPT/CPTu, VST, instrumentation and monitoring results.
- Assist the Geotechnical Engineer/Project Manager in assessing settlement, consolidation, stability and ground improvement performance.
- Provide technical recommendations where actual ground conditions differ from design assumptions.
- Participate in site inspections, technical meetings, toolbox meetings andcoordination meetings.
- Ensure all geotechnical and SI activities comply with Singapore project requirements, safety requirements and relevant standards.
- Perform other geotechnical and soil-investigation related duties as required by the project team.
Requirements:
- Degree/Diploma in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geology or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction projects.
- Experience in reclamation, marine works or soft-ground projects is highly preferred.
- Strong practical experience in soil investigation and geotechnical monitoring.
- Experience with PVD, surcharge, preloading and consolidation is highly advantageous.
- Experience with marine clay and reclamation sand is preferred.
- Ability to interpret and analyze CPT/CPTu, borehole, vane shear and laboratory test results.
- Good understanding of soil settlement, consolidation, pore pressure and lateral ground movement.
- Experience in preparing geotechnical monitoring and SI reports.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Able to work independently and supervise SI/instrumentation subcontractors.
- Able to work in Tuas, 5.5 day work week
