Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a full-time mid-level geologist/environmental scientist/engineer to support our team of environmental consultants. As an environmental professional, you can expect to carry out a variety of different tasks related to environmental investigation, compliance, and remediation. You will perform environmental assessment and remediation tasks to support projects at sites with contamination by materials such as solvents, petroleum fuels, and metals, primarily within the oil/gas and manufacturing industries. You will support the completion of project level work including task management, data management, field work, report preparation, and design components on multi-year environmental remediation/management projects. Significant decisions and deliverables reviewed by higher level staff. Duties, professional expectations, and compensation will be based on a candidate’s level of experience and abilities.

As a full-time geologist/scientist/engineer you will be based out of our Okemos, MI office and should have the ability to primarily work in the physical office with the potential for hybrid work arrangements to be negotiated after you have been trained, networked, and demonstrated the ability to successfully work remotely. Typical office environment includes working with computers and working at a desk for extended periods of time. Candidate must be willing and have the ability to travel and spend time working away from home or office. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret environmental data and analytical laboratory results
• Coordinate with and direct subcontractors
• Task management for environmental sites undergoing assessment and/or active remediation.
• Project management including scheduling, scoping, reporting, budgeting and staff oversight
• Communicating areas of concern to Project Managers.
• Coordinate with subcontractor companies and field teams (coordinate field events and sample delivery/schedule).
• Technical report support, including data entry/validation, figure preparation, and QA/QC.
• Conduct fieldwork, including various multimedia sampling (groundwater, soil, soil gas, air, surface water, sediment, etc.) and drilling, pilot testing, and construction/subcontractor oversight on a variety of project types (i.e., oil and gas, manufacturing, etc.).
• Aid in the completion of research, assessments, studies, surveys, and calculations.
• Follow established safety standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure safety of yourself and your teams while completing assignments.
• Assist in interpretation and verifying compliance with applicable environmental and health and safety rules and regulations.
• Work with other disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of senior level staff.
• Coordinate with senior level staff and/or multidisciplinary team members to ensure that the project's needs are met in a timely and effective manner.
• Work will be conducted under the supervision of a project or portfolio manager.
• Travel required, up to 25%.
