In this role, you will take full operational ownership of national road freight dispatching, vehicle route planning, and spot-market capacity purchasing. Working directly on-site in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, you will manage transport orders from initial customer inquiry and rate calculation through to driver coordination, track-and-trace monitoring, and spot-capacity sales.

This position is ideal for an experienced freight forwarding professional with strong geographical knowledge of Germany who thrives in a hands-on operational role, enjoys active communication with drivers and carriers, and brings a flexible, service-oriented mindset.

Core Responsibilities & Accountabilities

1. Transport Dispatching & Fleet Planning

  • Plan, schedule, and optimize assigned fleet vehicles for cost-effective national transport routes across Germany.
  • Process, create, and transmit transport orders, ensuring accurate documentation and seamless operational execution.
  • Direct and coordinate vehicle drivers, providing daily support, route guidance, and clear instructions.

2. Spot Market Purchasing & Carrier Network Development

  • Procure additional cargo space and third-party transport services on the spot market to cover peak demand.
  • Build, expand, and maintain strong operational relationships with a reliable network of external hauliers and sub-contractors.
  • Proactively sell free truck capacities by engaging with customers and trading partners.

3. Customer Service, Pricing & Quoting

  • Handle daily spot-rate inquiries and compute competitive freight cost calculations.
  • Perform real-time track-and-trace tracking, proactively resolving operational delays or delivery issues.
  • Manage customer service requests, carrier inquiries, and initial claims handling with clear, solution-driven communication.

4. Compliance & Operational Governance

  • Monitor strict adherence to statutory regulations, including driver working hours, driving and rest periods, and transport safety standards.
  • Ensure high data quality within freight dispatch software and tracking platforms.
