If you're an enthusiastic, dedicated, and passionate coach who shares our core values of Inquiry, Care, Integrity, Agency, and Interconnection, we want to hear from you.

At UHS, we believe athletics are a vital part of our students' education. You'll join a dynamic and collaborative athletic department committed to helping student-athletes not only excel physically and emotionally but also develop critical life skills like teamwork, resilience, leadership, and tenacity. We're a coeducational independent day school in San Francisco's Pacific Heights, serving 540 students in grades 9-12 with a mission to challenge each individual to live a life of integrity, inquiry, and purpose larger than the self.

About the Role

As the Program Head and Varsity Head Coach for Girls Flag Football, you'll be the strategic and cultural leader, responsible for the vision and development of our entire Girls Flag Football program, Varsity to eventually Junior Varsity. This isn't just about coaching; it's about shaping the athletic and personal growth of our student-athletes, fostering a deep love for the game, and modeling our values of integrity, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about teaching the game, building a healthy and inclusive team culture, and serving as a visible, collaborative leader within the UHS community.

  • Lead the Program: Set the strategic direction and cultivate a consistent philosophy for player development and team culture.
  • Design & Deliver High-Quality Practices: Plan and lead engaging, effective training sessions that build technical skills, tactics, rules, and game strategies in a progressive, age-appropriate manner.
  • Cultivate a Positive Team Culture: Promote a growth mindset, model exemplary sportsmanship, and encourage leadership, accountability, and mutual respect among players.
  • Mentor Coaching Staff: Support and collaborate with assistant coaches and JV staff to ensure continuity, positive communication, and shared values.
  • Ensure Compliance & Safety: Stay current on and enforce all MCAL, NCS, NFHS rules, and school policies, maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all student-athletes.
  • Collaborate Broadly: Work effectively with athletic trainers, strength & conditioning staff, facilities, and the broader coaching team. Maintain open communication with parents and represent UHS Athletics professionally.
  • Champion UHS Athletics: Integrate the school’s athletic philosophy, mission, and core values into every aspect of the program, reinforcing the educational value of sports.
  • Inspire Joy & Enthusiasm: Create an environment where players genuinely enjoy practice and competition, cultivating pride, excitement, and a strong sense of belonging within the team.
