GK) Principal Mobile Software Engineer

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Principal, Application Development is an AI-native senior technical leader responsible for defining and executing the architecture and strategy for large-scale enterprise systems. This role oversees the full development lifecycle, mentors engineering teams, and drives innovation through emerging technologies. The position ensures that all solutions meet business objectives while maintaining compliance with security, quality, and industry standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS/DUTIES:

  • Lead proof-of-concept (POC) validations, technical feasibility assessments, architecture, design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of native iOS and Android applications, leveraging AI-native capabilities where applicable.

  • Design and implement mobile application integrations with ecosystem platforms and services, ensuring scalable, secure, reliable, and maintainable solutions.

  • Provide deep native mobile engineering expertise across iOS and Android, including Xcode, Swift, SwiftUI/UIKit, Android Studio, Kotlin, Jetpack/Jetpack Compose, platform SDKs and APIs, build and dependency management, debugging, profiling, and testing.

  • Deliver performant, reliable, secure, and intuitive mobile experiences by optimizing responsiveness, startup performance, resource utilization, application stability, crash rates, and overall user experience across supported devices and OS versions.

  • Lead and continuously improve mobile CI/CD, build automation, automated testing, deployment, and release-management practices, including code signing and App Store and Google Play releases.

  • Maintain strong in-house technical expertise for strategic mobile applications, ensuring continuity of ownership, faster issue resolution, reduced external dependency, and sustained support for ongoing business-driven enhancements.

  • Provide technical leadership through mobile architecture guidance, solution design, design and code reviews, technical decision-making, knowledge sharing, and mentoring of engineers.

  • Establish and promote engineering best practices for architecture, coding standards, code quality, automated testing, observability, maintainability, security, performance, and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure solutions comply with security and privacy requirements, quality assurance standards, internal engineering and platform standards, applicable regulations, and Apple App Store and Google Play policies and guidelines.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, platform, infrastructure, operations, security, QA, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions and deliver evolving mobile initiatives.

  • Proactively identify and manage technical risks, dependencies, architectural concerns, and production issues, driving timely mitigation and resolution.

  • Monitor application health, technical outcomes, risks, and delivery commitments, and communicate status, recommendations, and key technical decisions to senior stakeholders.

  • Maintain and share technical documentation, architecture decisions, and operational knowledge to support long-term application ownership, maintainability, and business continuity.

  • Adhere to internal standards, policies, procedures, engineering governance, and applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Native mobile application architecture and design (iOS and Android, scalable and modular architecture, enterprise integration)

  • Native mobile development platforms and technologies (e.g., Xcode, Swift, SwiftUI/UIKit, Android Studio, Kotlin, Jetpack/Jetpack Compose)

  • Mobile application integration and AI-native technologies (e.g., REST APIs, SDKs, enterprise ecosystem services using AWS Amazon Connect and Amazon Chime integration, AI/GenAI APIs and capabilities)

  • Mobile DevOps, CI/CD, and release management (e.g., build automation, testing, code signing, App Store Connect, Google Play Console)

  • Mobile security, privacy, and compliance frameworks (e.g., OWASP Mobile, secure coding, data protection, Apple/Google platform standards)

  • Mobile testing, quality, and engineering practices (e.g., automated testing, code quality, debugging, profiling, dependency management)

  • Mobile application performance, stability, and observability (e.g., crash monitoring, startup performance, responsiveness, resource utilization, production health)

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or comparable education/training
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in software engineering or application development
  • Proven experience designing and delivering large-scale enterprise systems
  • Strong understanding of modern development practices and architectural frameworks


LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Certifications in cloud architecture (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect) or enterprise architecture (e.g., TOGAF) preferred
  • Relevant iOS/Android advanced training or professional credentials are preferred; demonstrated expertise in Swift/iOS and Kotlin/Android development may be accepted in lieu of formal certification.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Experience in directly or indirectly supervises 1–5 engineering professionals
