Global Logistics Manager

ProteQ is seeking an experienced Global Logistics Manager to plan, coordinate, and execute domestic and international transportation activities supporting commercial and U.S. Government projects. This position manages the movement of equipment, materials, and project cargo from initial transportation planning and shipment coordination through customs clearance and final delivery.

The Logistics Manager works closely with ProteQ Project Leads, Field Logistics Specialists, HAZMAT/Dangerous Goods Specialists, freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, foreign agents, and other external stakeholders to ensure cargo is transported safely, efficiently, in compliance with applicable requirements, and on schedule.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with international freight forwarding, multimodal transportation, import/export and customs compliance, and the transportation of HAZMAT/Dangerous Goods, including support for complex domestic and international cargo movements.

Responsibilities

As a valued team member, your role will encompass the following essential tasks:

• Plan, coordinate, and execute domestic and international transportation of commercial and U.S. Government-owned equipment, materials, and project cargo.
• Manage shipments from initial planning and booking through customs clearance and final delivery.
• Develop transportation plans addressing routing, schedules, costs, carriers, manpower, equipment, facilities, and other resources required to support project requirements.
• Manage air freight, ocean freight, ground transportation, freight forwarding, warehousing, and destination services.
• Coordinate daily shipment activities with project teams, shippers, carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, foreign agents, and other stakeholders.
• Prepare and maintain import/export and transportation documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, shipping instructions, customs documentation, EEI/AES filings, ATA Carnets, and other required records.
• Ensure compliance with applicable U.S. and international import/export requirements, including ITAR, EAR, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and other applicable trade and transportation regulations.
• Prepare and review required HAZMAT/Dangerous Goods shipping documentation and ensure shipments are properly classified, packaged, marked, labeled, and documented for the applicable mode of transportation.
• Coordinate with carrier HAZMAT personnel regarding declarations, packaging, markings, labels, documentation, and other compliance requirements.
• Support the identification and resolution of undeclared or improperly documented HAZMAT/Dangerous Goods.
• Maintain visibility of active cargo movements, track shipments, identify potential delays or compliance issues, and communicate status to appropriate stakeholders.
• Coordinate destination services, including customs clearance, foreign agent support, final-mile transportation, and delivery.
• Source qualified carriers and transportation providers, obtain and evaluate quotes, negotiate rates, and support transportation purchasing requirements.
• Maintain current knowledge of applicable U.S. and international transportation, import/export, customs, and HAZMAT/Dangerous Goods regulations.
• Proactively identify transportation or compliance issues and implement appropriate solutions to minimize schedule and operational impacts.
• Perform other logistics and transportation duties as assigned.
• This position requires approximately 25% travel, including potential field work and international travel in support of project cargo movements and deliveries.

Required Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of progressively responsible experience in global transportation and logistics, preferably supporting the defense or aerospace industry, including U.S. military transportation logistics.
• Bachelor's degree in Global Logistics, Business, Transportation, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related discipline, or comparable U.S. military experience.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex international logistics and transportation operations, including import/export documentation, customs clearance, freight forwarding, and 49 CFR-regulated hazardous materials, including lithium batteries.
• Demonstrated expertise in international freight forwarding and multimodal transportation, including air, ocean, and ground transportation.
• Applied knowledge of U.S. import/export and customs requirements, including ITAR, EAR, USML classification, DDTC and CBP requirements, EEI/AES filings, ATA Carnets, and applicable import/export documentation.
• Strong understanding of Incoterms® and their application to international transportation and trade.
• Ability to independently manage transportation activities from initial planning through final delivery, including coordination with U.S. Government and commercial customers, partners, foreign agents, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and carriers.
• Current HAZMAT/Dangerous Goods shipper training applicable to IATA/ICAO, IMDG, and U.S. DOTrequirements.
• Ability to research, interpret, and apply transportation and HAZMAT/Dangerous Goods regulations and remain current with regulatory changes.
• Strong organizational skills with demonstrated attention to detail, accuracy, documentation, and deadlines.
• Ability to manage multiple active shipments, competing priorities, and changing operational requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate transportation, logistics, and compliance requirements to technical personnel, project teams, customers, and senior leadership.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
• Ability and willingness to travel and work in domestic and international field environments as required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance.

Desired Qualifications

• Certified International Freight Forwarder (CIFF) or comparable freight forwarding credential.
• Experience supporting U.S. Government or Department of Defense international logistics and transportation operations.
• Experience planning and executing U.S. military airlift and sealift movements.
• Applied experience coordinating CONUS and OCONUS movement of military equipment via air, ocean, and ground transportation, including hazardous cargo and associated customs and import/export documentation.
• Advanced or specialized HAZMAT/Dangerous Goods training or certifications applicable to IATA/ICAO, IMDG, and U.S. DOT requirements.
• Experience coordinating the movement of specialized, oversized, sensitive, or mission-critical equipment.
• OSHA-compliant and/or DoD forklift operator qualification or certification.
