Isola, an industry leader in global materials sciences whose mission is to improve life by enabling innovation in electronic products, is hiring a Global Product Compliance Manager in Singapore.
THE ROLE
Lead Isola’s global product compliance function by overseeing compliance of Isola’s products with applicable chemical legislation, product regulations, industry standards and customer product compliance requirements worldwide. Serve as Isola’s primary point of contact and subject-matter expert for product compliance matters and for external customer and internal stakeholder requests for product compliance information. Develop, implement and maintain systems and processes to evaluate, document and respond to regulatory, industry and customer product compliance requirements in a timely, accurate and consistent manner. Support/advise Isola R&D and New Product Development (NPD) teams through all stages of product development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and maintain applicable product testing and global compliance processes, including, but not limited to:
Coordinate annual product and new product compliance testing.
Develop and maintain a centralized database of product compliance data, supporting documentation, declarations and customer responses.
Track applicable chemical legislation, product regulations, industry standards and other product compliance requirements and conduct regulatory impact and compliance gap analyses.
Prepare and maintain product compliance declarations and certifications.
Review, prioritize and coordinate responses to incoming customer product compliance inquiries, questionnaires, surveys and requests for product composition or regulatory information.
Identify product compliance requests involving confidential, proprietary or sensitive product information and coordinate with Legal to confirm appropriate confidentiality protections before disclosure.
Monitor and assess proposed and newly enacted chemical and product regulations globally; evaluate potential impacts on Isola’s raw materials, formulations, products and markets; and proactively communicate risks, recommended actions and implementation timelines to R&D, Supply Chain, Legal and other stakeholders.
Track product testing results for customer-required testing and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
Develop content and provide product compliance training to other functions, including R&D, Sales & Technical Services and Supply Chain.
Evaluate new and modified raw materials for compliance with applicable chemical legislation, product regulatory requirements, customer restrictions and Isola product compliance requirements. Coordinate with Supply Chain to obtain and maintain supplier product compliance declarations and supporting documentation and perform appropriate due diligence reviews.
Support R&D efforts to reduce potential business impacts resulting from new or updated legislative and regulatory initiatives.
Develop and maintain systems to track applicable chemical legislation, product regulations and industry standards (e.g., TSCA, REACH, national chemical control laws, RoHS, IMDS and similar requirements). Proactively communicate potential issues arising from proposed or newly adopted requirements and lead cross-functional efforts to address identified gaps.
Establish and maintain processes and procedures for managing SDSs, including periodic review, translation and distribution.
Establish controls to ensure that product compliance representations and declarations provided to customers and other external parties are accurate, consistent, appropriately supported, traceable to source data and retained in accordance with Company requirements.
Ensure that product compliance processes and procedures are appropriately documented, maintained and kept current.
Cross-Functional Interaction
Research & Development: Establish and maintain product-compliance requirements and approval criteria within Isola's NPD process, including review of raw materials, formulations, testing requirements, regulatory status, SDS requirements and customer/market-specific restrictions before commercialization.
Sales, Marketing, Technical Service & Quality: Lead or coordinate responses to external requests for product compliance information, including customer questionnaires, product declarations, substance disclosures and industry database submissions (e.g., IMDS).
Supply Chain: support efforts to review new raw materials and suppliers with respect to raw material product compliance questions. Maintain database of raw material SDSs.
Legal: partner with Legal on product compliance and product stewardship matters, including regulatory developments, customer disclosure requirements, protection of confidential and proprietary product information, and appropriate confidentiality protections for external disclosures. Ensure that product compliance representations made to customers and other external parties are accurate, consistent, appropriately supported and traceable to underlying source information.

Fluency in English required; proficiency in Mandarin Chinese preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in a relevant field, such as, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
Minimum of 6 years of relevant industry experience in product compliance, product stewardship, chemical regulatory affairs or a related discipline.
Demonstrated working knowledge of various product content regulations, restrictions and reporting requirements, such as REACH, RoHS, TSCA, CA Prop 65, IMDS, IPC1752 and similar requirements.
Experience with chemical regulatory requirements in multiple jurisdictions, including Asia-Pacific, Europe and North America, is strongly preferred.
Understanding of printed circuit materials, electronic materials, specialty chemicals or related manufacturing industries is beneficial.
