Global Proposals Manager

Clifford Chance has an ambitious global strategy with clients at its centre. The Business Development function plays a key role in delivering this strategy by working with partners, lawyers and business professionals to support growth and convert key client and market opportunities.

This role sits within the Global Bids & Pursuits team and leads the project management of large global panel pitches and complex, high-value, multi-jurisdictional proposals. Working across multiple practices, sectors and regions, the role will coordinate stakeholders, drive high-quality responses and support the development of best practice, tools and processes to improve proposal delivery and win rates.

Key Responsibilities:

Panel Response Project Management Delivery

  • To lead large, global panel responses and must-win cross-practice matter proposals working alongside the relevant Business Development team (e.g. Sectors & Themes for sector-specific panel, Client Growth & Strategic Clients for GSC clients, etc.) and fee-earners
  • To manage the end-to-end panels process in a complex matrix environment, including panel strategy, development, writing, editing, production and delivery, presentations and feedback
  • To act as central coordinating point of contact for each panel response
  • To provide end-to-end advice, challenge, direction, coaching and support throughout the panel process life cycle to stakeholders at all levels within the firm
  • To coaching, oversee and support more junior team members who have varying degrees of experience through panel processes
  • To draft, review and edit panel response documents to shape and produce compelling, client centric propositions for clients. To apply deep knowledge of the firm offerings to provide tailored panel documents
  • To identify creative ways to communicate messages to clients throughout the panel process and to also develop new and compelling written content
  • To acting as an advocate for and ensuring compliance with processes associated with Foundation (the firm's Pitch and Experience Management product) and assisting with the management of Standard Pitch Content and Pipeline Reporting
  • To deliver proposal training sessions to lawyers and other Business Development teams
  • To conduct win/loss debriefs for global proposals and pitches

Stakeholder Collaboration and Proposal Best Practice

  • To work closely with Partners and Business Development management to create and maintain momentum in winning new business
  • To build strong relationships and collaborate closely with a wide range of Business Professionals across the firm including, Commercial Pricing and Document Production to drive the panel process
  • To work with teams to drive the development of strong propositions at all stages of the RFP process
  • To support the development and sharing of world class proposals best practice and delivery. To equip the Firm and Business Development colleagues with the tools, techniques and infrastructure required for excellence and efficiency in proposals development by, for example, supporting the design of proposal training courses

You will have:

  • Extensive experience of working on competitive proposals and pitches, ideally within the professional services market
  • Extensive experience working across functions in an international, regional, and local context
  • Experience working at a senior level in a partnership
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships with senior management
  • Proven ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and act discreetly when required

In addition, you will possess:

  • Fluency in the English language
  • The ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders quickly
  • Excellent listening, oral, and written communication skills
  • A high-level of self-awareness and the ability to flex working style to different situations
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Highly developed analytical skills and a passion for problem solving
  • Strong IT literacy: proficiency with Microsoft Office and exposure to Web Portals used for managing RFP processes
